    2. The marriage of J. J. Watson and Julia Ware, I have that in a .pdf file if the person will accept an attachment. Years ago I made a copy of the Durham County Marriage Register from microfilm ... since I live in Florida, just do not have access to records like those in Durham County. (FHC #0812817 Durham County Register of Deeds Marriage Register, v 1 - 4, 1881 - 1928) Let me know if this is acceptable. Linda B. 1. Re: [NCDOGS] Volunteer to Help - Marriage Record
    2. Ginger: When I searched in the published book "Durham County, North Carolina, Marriage Register, 1881-1906, there is a marriage between J. J. Watson and Julia Ware, in 1886 p.230. Joseph was listed as J.J. Watson, that may be the problem. That book is transcribed by Frances Holloway Wynne. That is not the actual marriage record, but it should allow the researcher to locate the original record. 2. Ginger Smith
    3. I just wrote a new blog post about this on the D-OGS website here (http://www.ncgenweb.us/dogsnc/bransons-north-carolina-business-directory) Back in January at the CIG meeting Nerissa mentioned Branson’s North Carolina Business Directory, Volume 7, for the year 1890 that has been digitized at Google books as a genealogy gem. This historical directory is organized alphabetically by county and gives information on the county, names of the towns and post offices, county and town officers and magistrates, churches, ministers, hotels, lawyers, manufacturers, tradesmen, mines, mills, newspapers, merchants, schools, physicians, farmers, teachers, and so on. It also contains a list of railroads and an index to advertisements found throughout the book. These books are fully searchable and several have already been digitized by UNC and uploaded to the internet archives website. Click here (http://tinyurl.com/2f73566) to access a list of available titles ranging from 1867 – 1896. Ginger

    2. Ginny
    3. Ginger, for some reason I didn't get your original query to the list, but I have seen several responses to it. You might find what you are looking for in Delayed Birth Certificates. There is a database on Ancestry that has North Carolina Birth Index, 1800-2000 and it shows people who obtained delayed birth certificates -- the one I looked at shows some of my husband's relatives in Iredell Country and it is for Iredell County, but the Ancestry database has other counties. Unfortunately the index doesn't show Durham as being one of the included counties. The information on the database says the delayed birth certificate itself must come from the register of deeds. You might ask in Durham about delayed birth certificates. Then Ancestry also includes a database that has actual birth certificates. North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, Vital Records Division website is a place to look for births after 1912 according to Ancestry. Maybe one or more of these suggestions from the list will help.
