Married twice that I know of. First, to Julia Rachel FLORENCE (1841) and second to Mary Jane RENEAU (1852). Lived in Bethany, Jefferson County, GA. Stated he was born in NC. Contemporaries stated he was very well educated and census documents indicate he was pretty well off. My link to Davidson County, NC is the name "Bethany." I know he named in little community in Jefferson County, GA "Bethany," he named a school he founded in Jefferson County, GA "Bethany Institute" and his son, William Russell DANIEL, did the same when he moved to Morgan County, GA. I have no idea who his parents were. Given names in this family that cannot be accounted for are: Mary, James, William, Alice and Elizabeth.
