George Essick was witness. Looking for information > on their parents and siblings. Thanks for any help. Freda Gavin Hi Freda, I suspect George is either an uncle or the father of Elizabeth Essick. I'm trying to piece together the Essex family. My ancestor is John Essex who married Catherine Rothrock and was involved with the Moravian church. His father was Joseph Essig (Essick/Essex) and he was involved with the Pilgrim Lutheran church in Davidson County. Joseph was married to a woman named Elizabeth-her maiden name is supposed to be Kimmel, but I haven't found actual proof of that yet. The children of Joseph that I have so far (shaky evidence at times): John Essex b. 7 Dec 1771 Philadelphia, PA d. 27 Oct 1871 Bartholomew Co., IN William Jacob Essig b. c. 1773 in PA or NC died 1849 m. Catherine Livengood Joseph Essick b. c. 1776 d. 1875 m. Susannah Whirlow Christina Essick b. c. 1780 Catherine Essig b. c. 1783 George Essick b. 1790 Sara Essig b. 7 Jul 1793 (christened Pilgrim Lutheran Church) Eva Margreta Essick I do not know if Elizabeth was the only wife or maybe just the mother of the later children. I am open to the possibility of more children and/or the fact that she may have been the second wife. I do know that Joseph came from Germany when he was about 10 years old and was born about 1742. What info I have came from LDS microfilm of the church records and a copy of the book Heritage of Davidson Co. as well as Joseph's revolutionary war pension record on microfilm (very interesting reading-he was an Indian spy at a fort in KY). I can trace down John's side to my grandfather-George Essex in Bartholomew Co., IN. Let me know if anything fits together with what you have. I hope this helps some! Diana Moore Indianapolis, IN
