Posted on: Davidson County, NCGenWeb Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/Davidson/1553 Surname: ------------------------- I need someone with local knowledge of Davidson County to supplement my own. I possess a "North Carolina Atlas and Gazeteer" Topographical Map Book that lists creeks in a more detailed way than most internet searches such as Yahoo. The description below indicates this property was somewhere near the intersection of Hamby and Abbott Creeks northeast of Lexington. However, I would like to be more precise. Can someone tell me exactly where this is? I thank you so much if you can (I was just there for two weeks doing research in Salisbury, but didn't know about this deed ). In 1774, "...commissioners appointed to lay out a road from the Shallow Ford in Surry County, NC, through the Counties of Surry, Rowan, Guilford and Cumberland to join the road through Guilford to Cross Creek, laid it as follows: Beginning at the Shallow Ford...to the Old Dutch Road, then leaving the Old Dutch Road on the left hand and crossing Henby's (HAMBY's) Creek...from thence into Cape Fear Road." Thanks again from Bonnie
