Posted on: Davidson County, NCGenWeb Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/Davidson/1644 Surname: ROTHROCK, WELLER, BOECKEL, PICKLE, FREY, KEARNEY, BUTNER, HAUSER, HUFFMAN, CRAIG, FISHEL, HEGE, TESH, LEONARD, BRASINGTON, WEISNER, MILLER, POPE, GOULD, BREWER, RICH, DOUB, McBRIDE, BUTNER, KELLY ------------------------- Christian ROTHROCK was born 24 Oct 1794 at Friedberg, present day Forsyth County, North Carolina; the ninth of ten children of Philip (1746-1825) and Eva Elizabeth WELLER ROTHROCK (1749-1839). Christian died 08 Dec 1870 at Friedberg. He married Maria Catharina BOECKEL (1794-1863) on 27 Feb 1817 at Friedberg, Stokes Co., NC. Christian and Maria were buried at the Moravian Cemetery at Friedberg. Maria may be the daughter of Tobias BOECKEL (PICKLE). Another supposed daughter of TOBIAS was Anna Margaretha BOECKEL who married Daniel ROTHROCK, younger brother of CHRISTIAN. Was this Tobias BOECKEL the son of Friedrich BOECKEL (1743-1802) who married Anna Barbara FREY (???-???) in 1764 at Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and moved to Friedberg in 1765? It still needs to be proven that Anna and Maria were sisters, daughters of the Tobias BOECKEL who was son of Friedrich BOECKEL and Anna Barbara FREY. Christian and Maria lived at South Fork and Broadbay Townships of Forsyth County, NC and were the parents of nine known children and 25 grandchildren: 1. Anna Caroline ROTHROCK (1817-1899) married William Alexander KEARNEY (1819-1894) in 1846. They were buried at the Bethania Moravian Graveyard and were the parents of four known children: Mary G. (1847-1916) (married William N. BUTNER (1833-1899); Sarah A.E. (1854-1869); Emma P. (1854-???) (nothing known); and William J. (1860-???) (died young?). There may be other children (such as: John C. 1849-1850 ???). The family lived at Old Town Township, Forsyth Co., NC. Alexander was a blacksmith and the son of John KEARNEY and Johanna Gertrude HAUSER KEARNEY (1792-1859). 2. Henrietta Gertrude ROTHROCK (1819-1835); buried at Friedberg Moravian cemetery. 3. Christian Tobias ROTHROCK (1820-1886) married Caroline (Ida) Edith HUFFMAN (1820-1886) in 1845 at Davidson Co., NC. They were buried at Friedberg Moravian Cemetery and were the parents of four known children: John Wesley (1845-???) (married Nancy Ellen CRAIG (1846-???) and lived at Chester Co., SC; Mary Louisa (1847-1917); Emma Regina (1849-1915) (the two sisters Mary and Emma never married and lived together all their lives and were buried at Friedberg) and David Augustus (1853-???) (nothing known). The family lived at Broadbay Township, Forsyth Co., NC. I do not know who the parents of Caroline (Ida) Edith HUFFMAN were. 4. Daniel Henreich ROTHROCK (1822-1823); buried at Friedberg Moravian cemetery. 5. Marie (Mary) Catherine ROTHROCK (1823-1868) married Michael FISHEL (1818-1890) in 1843 at Friedberg. Michael was the son of Daniel FISHEL (1780-1859) and Maria Magdalina SCHINDER (1781-1853). Mary and Michael (and at least eight of their ten children) are buried at the Friedberg Moravian Cemetery. The family lived in Arcadia Township, near the Forsyth County line, but in Davidson Co., NC. Their known children were: Allen Alexander FISHEL (1844-died before 1850); Belinda Julia FISHEL (1845-1900) married Philip Alexander HEGE (1843-1925); William Henry FISHEL (1846-1868) married Mary Ann TESH (nothing known); John Anderson FISHEL (1848-1928) married Emeline LEONARD (1848-1924); Amos Christian FISHEL (1850-c1930) (nothing known); Louise Amanda FISHEL (1852-1937) (never married); Killiam Thomas FISHEL (1856-1876); Jordan David FISHEL (1858-1938) married Martha Alice LEONARD (1859-1884) and then Sarah Ann BRASINGTON (1867-1933); Laura Catherine FISHEL (1858-1935) married Wesley A. HEGE (1859-1931); and Isaac Parmenic FISHEL (1866-1944) married Sarah M. WEISNER (1872-1959). 6. Benjamin David ROTHROCK (1825-1889) married Charlotte (b. 1834 in SC) in South Carolina. He moved to Chester Co., SC in c1847 where he lived until 1881. He fought for the Confederacy in the Civil War. They had five known children. They moved back to Lexington, Davidson Co., NC in 1881 and then to Washington D.C. in 1885. David was a blacksmith and stock raiser. In 1900 the widow Charlotte was still living at Washington D.C. 7. Margaret Perlinda ROTHROCK (1827-1904) married Levi MILLER (1821-???) in 1883 at Friedberg. Margaret (and Levi?) is buried at the New Philadelphia Moravian Church Cemetery in Winston-Salem. Some records mistakenly show Margaret marrying Philip HEGE, but this is a confusion with her cousin Belinda Julia ROTHROCK who married Philip Alexander HEGE. 8. John Lazarus ROTHROCK (1829-???). He was still living in 1850. Nothing else is known of him. 9. Solomon Jacob ROTHROCK (1834-1864) married Margaret (Mary) Ann POPE (1835-1870) in 1855 at Forsyth Co., NC. Mary was the daughter of George POPE and Nancy THOMAS. Like two of his elder brothers Jacob moved to Chester Co., SC, was a blacksmith and fought for the Confederacy. He died of yellow fever at Charleston, SC during the War and was buried at Magnolia Cemetery in Charleston. It is not known where Mary is buried. His widow and three children were living at Broadbay Township, Forsyth Co., NC in 1870. The three children were: A) Charles Noah (1857-1921) married Harriet Marey GOULD (in 1879 at Sedgwick Co., KS), then Carrie C. BREWER (1863-1911) in 1884 at Winston, Forsyth Co., NC) and then Onnita RICH in 1914 at Forsyth Co., NC and finally Mattie DOUB McBRIDE (1875-1969) in 1915 at Forsyth Co., NC. There may be another wife between Harriett and Carrie; B) David Samuel (1859-1924) married Virginia (Jennie) Elisabeth BUTNER (1860-1919) in 1884 and T. Belle KELLY in 1921; and C) Mary D. ROTHROCK (1862-???) (nothing known). Please contact me if anyone has any information on this family or their descendants. [email protected]
