Also, Sary Spurgin. That church was located in the area of Rowan County that later became Davidson Co. Samuel does not appear on the 1802 membership roll, so since you say he died in 1789, I'll bet that's your man, and he could be buried in the Abbotts Creek Church Cemetery. I have no data on the cemetery, but know it exists. The Spurgins who do appear on the 1802 Abbots Creek Church roll are Joseph, Isaac, Sion, Ely, Zachariah, Squire, Elizabeth (2 of them), and Febe. The only land record I could find among the pages I have of "Abstracts of Davidson County Deeds, Books I and II," published in 1969 by Catherine C. Middleton is: "p. 531, May, 1820 Joseph Spurgin to William Spurgin his son. On Spurgin's Creek, a water of Abbotts Creek, Benjamin Farabe's line. 4 acres. Wit: W. Kenneday, Sr., Wm. Wiseman, Sr." I knew some of the Spurgeons migrated to Washington Co., IN, along with my Richards family (some of whom are also buried in Old Hebron Cemetery). I have wondered if the Spurgeons and Richards inter-married. Since you are related to both, can you tell me? Thanks.
