However there were also Hunts who came down to Davidson Co. are when it was still Rowan Co. in 1759 Col Jonathan Hunt was one of the first 5 settlers in the area that became known as the Jersey Settlement. He eventually wound up settling in Davie/Yadkin Co. area and in fact Huntsville in Yadkin Co. is named for his family and his son Charles Hunt. Col. Jonathan had 3 wives (first one was a Smith) and about 25 children - he is buried in Eaton's Baptist Church cemetery. He was part of the Hunt family who lived in Maidenhead, Hopewell Twp. Hunterdon Co. NJ prior to his coming to the Jersey Settlement - these Hunts were descendants of Ralph Hunt Sr. of Newtown Long Island NY (prior to NJ). I am a descendant of Ralh Hunt Sr.'s daughter Anna and have done some research on the family. I am not a direct line decendant through Col. Jonathan Hunt himself but he is part of this family and I know of him because he is "locally" famous in this area's history and in the Jersey Settlement history of which I have done some research and written a paper on. I will look in my records this evening at home but I don't recall a David Hunt but he may well be part of this family - I have not researched this line (children etc.) extensively because my own Hunt ancestor becomes part of my Phillips family long before Col. Jonathan was even born. Anyway I did want to mention this other HUNT family in the area as an avenue of research. Good luck.
