Mrs. Maxwell died Sunday March 11, 2001 in a Clifton nursing home. Mrs. Maxwell was born in the King Community. She was the daughter of John and Bessie Ray Shoaf. Survivors were two daughters, Bobbie Fay Thornton and Susan Claudette Shinn; a brother, Bob Shoaf; three sisters, Leta Nicholas, Iva Rutledge and Nadeen Sims; five grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. [From our records] Mabel Fern Shoaf, born 10 March 1917, was the grand daughter of Richmond Shoaf and Mary E. Michael, both born in Davidson County, North Carolina. Fern Shoaf was married (1) on 27 February 1936, to Millard Augustus Mohler. Mr. Mohler was born 19 May 1916 and died 2 September 1989. Keith & Dorothy White
