    3. Cathy, I can't help with a guide, but with much help and permission from the Genealogical Society of Davidson County (kudos to Pres.Becky Lassiter for scanning) the Davidson County Public Library has posted the indexes to all eight cemetery records books for Davidson County. Here is the url: http://www.co.davidson.nc.us/library/2006.asp . You can click on the volumes to be taken to the index for each volume. They are extremely LARGE files readable with the standard free Adobe Acrobat Reader. So be patient if you try to view them with dialup connection. The indexes list names not cemeteries. The cemeteries you name do not ring a bell with me as being Davidson Co., but I am a novice at cemetery searching. I have recently updated the library's genealogy information page at this address if you are interested at: http://www.co.davidson.nc.us/library/1170.asp . Best of luck on your cemetery tour. 3. Hello list, I need help with locating any cemeteries that might hold Cranfords. If anyone knows of a Cranford in a cemetery in Davidson County, NC, please let me know A group of researchers and myself will be going to several counties this coming weekend. I know of only one cemetery right off the bat, but do not know how to get there. It is Lane Chapel, I believe. Also there is another one, called High Pine Cemetery but I have not been able to locate where this cemetery might be in, which county. I would be coming from Troy, Montgomery County, NC, and if anyone can help with directions, please let me know. I do not know what town the cemetery would be in, need help with that, also. I will be able to receive email until Friday morning, but then will leave for the trip, so if replies come in after that time, i will be unable to see them until i return home. Many thanks for any help given. I am sorry that I am unable to give more info in order to help me. Some of the folks coming will be from out of state, and I would like to make this trip as full as I can, for them and need much help when it comes to directions to the cemeteries, in both Montgomery and Randolph. The person who was to be our guide, we have been unable to reach. Again, thank you for any help, Sincerely, Cathy Cranford pastseeker@nc.rr.com http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~cranford/cathy1.html ============================== "Remembering Our Past is Wonderful To Become Lost In It Is Not While Paying Attention To Those Who Came Before Us, Remember To Pay Attention To Those We Still Have" © Cathy Cranford 2003 =============================================== No Legacy Is So Rich As Honesty ~ Shakespeare =============================================== Homeschool and "Leave no child behind." © Cathy Cranford 2004

My parents are Jerry Cecil & Margaret Crain Shoaf. I am Leah Marie Shoaf Frederic. I have 3 siblings: Julia Cheryl, Jerry Cecil II & Timothy Scott. I have been recently trying to help my Dad locate a birth certificate for him & it is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. My Dad told me that Grandpa Shoaf would file the certificates the next time he went to town for work. The N.C. vital statics shows the last child born to my grandparents in N.C. was Joseph on 1/25/1940. My Dad has always known his birthday to be 1/22/1941. We have received school records that show his birthday as 1/25/1942 and that he was born in Salsbury, N.C. but the county is Roanoke County in Virginia. So I'm now searching to see if maybe Grandpa Shoaf had filed his birth in Roanoke County, it is not that far from Rowen County where Salsbury is located. Grandpa did carpentry work on alot of military bases at that time & would travel alot. Glen Shoaf was born two years after my Dad & he was born in Georgia, then Johnny who was born in Florida. There were 14 kids total. If any of you have any information or if your parents can remember ! anything that would help us find his information it would be greatly appreciated. I would love to hear from any "ancestors."

    2. bn2004
    3. If some of you are interested in seeing some original state atlases..there are some at www.genealogyatlas.com . So far they have them for 1814, 1845 and about 60% of 1795. I guess they will be putting other years up eventually. Use the PDF format because you can zoom in and out and print them easily from your computer I printed two maps out but they could be slow to load if you have a dial up. But they are worth the wait. I still hold out hope because there weren't that many Wilsons in Rowan Co. at the time. I am hoping to track down the parents of my William M. Wilson, b. 1821. The Henry Wilson I mentioned may not be related--I thought perhaps he was because both my William and Henry were silversmiths, both living in rented quarters in Salisbury in 1850. William M. Wilson married my Caroline Earnhardt but after just one child (Clara Bell Wilson), he died in 1864. Clara Bell Wilson married my John Fletcher Pace in 1874. Betty Pace - bapace2@juno.com
