However, his second marriage to Jennie B. Rowe 7 Sept 1902 gives his parents as Conrad & Sarah Grubb, father dead & mother living.

She confirmed that is indeed the birthdate given. However, his obit in The Dispatch December 3, 1928 gives his birthdate as April 16, 1848.

I have a William L. Smith (b:abt 1862), s/o John M. Smith (b:abt 1817) and Elizabeth Boles (b:abt 1821) m: Amanda (Mattie?)Jane Hedrick (b:abt 1873), d/o Joseph Hedrick (b:abt 1843) and Elizabeth (Bettie) (b:abt 1840). In the 1910 Census, William and Amanda were shown with a dau, Cora V. (b:abt 1908). They were married 22 Jan 1899. If this matches, I can give you more detail if you contact me directly.

I suspect the cemetery extraction book has his date of birth wrong. It lists his birth as 1868 (see below) --It should be 1848, based on census information.
