    2. I'm going to get this right yet!! - I hate to put anything "out there" that is incorrect - here are the correct dates - again forgive me..... In 1785 William Cole, Justice of the County Court, had been appointed the guardian of the orphans of a George Parke and his wife, Agnes Nichols (Rowan County marriage bond dated 5 February 1762, Jacob Nichols and Henry Lively, bondsmen.) (18). It is not known if there is any relationship between Agnes Nichols and William Nichols, son-in-law of Stephen and Sarah Pettypool. 1785 May 5 Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions, William Cole, Esq apptd guardian of John Park, Mary Park [married 1787 Robert McKee], Agness Park, Joshua Park, Huldy Park, & Jacob Nichols Park, orphans of George Park dec'd & gave 400 bond with James McCay [McKee] security. thanks - Susan Mike - actually I mispoke (I'm at work away from my records) - George Parke married Agness Nichols in 1769 in Rowan Co. - he died I believe in 1784 or so......sorry. 1. Re: [NCDavidson] Re: William Cole
    2. Thanks Mike, This land which belonged to Charles Parke who was a cousin of my George Park was owned by Charles much later than what I am speaking of (this is 1818 - my George died in 1769 and was known to be in the area and on the tax lists as early as 1757) . This could be the same land but I'm not sure. Since it is on the East side of the Yadkin that does place it on the right side. I will check the map. I think Charles Parke is shown on the map - the map that I have is for land ownership later than my George would have been there - hence his land is not "shown" and my conjecture about William Cole. George's brothers were also in the area and owned land on both sides of the Yadkin River. Noah Parke had land just across the river on what is now Rowan Co. (all of this was Rowan at the time). And his brothers Ebenezer & Moses had land on the eastern side as he did but a bit farther in from the river. George's son John Park also owned land later up closer to Jersey Baptist Church & Swearing Creek in the Jersey Settlement. George's land was said to be close to Bald Mtn and Flat Swamp Creek - Lick Creek area.....his mother remarried a John Davis after his father John Parke II died in Hampshire Co., VA/WV and John Davis & his family also came to Rowan Co. and had land along Flat Swamp Creek as well...
