I am looking for the Father of Zachariah Mitchell Irvin b. 1827, George Thomas Irvin b 1826 and Sara Irvin b1830 in North Carolina. Their mother Delilah ? was also born in N.C.. Family history says their father was born in Scotland; but he died before 1850 so we do not know his name. Delilah was born in 1807. Any information would be helpful. I'm hoping he is out there on some 1830 census.Their last child Alexander Irvin was born in N.C. in 1838. thanks, Tammy Cox

Posted on: Davidson County, NCGenWeb Query Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/Davidson?read=1490 Surname: Barkley, Davis ------------------------- I saw your message posted and thought I see if I could help. There is an old land grant map at the Love Learning Resource Center at the Davidson County Community College in Thomasville, NC. It lists old land grants. It has your Robert Bartley [sp.], 100 acres, 1788 borders the Yadkin River, Benjamin Davis, 166 acres, 1788, John Davis, 131 acres, 1784. Potts Creeks (there are two branches) runs off of the Yadkin River. One branch goes toward Churchland & Jubilee - actually in the middle of these two places. The other branch is west of Linwood going northwest. I could not find Richard's Creek, but that does not mean it's not there. I just can't locate it. The land grant map I'm talking about is quite large. I copied it in pieces at the NC State Library in Raleigh, NC in 1989. Since I am a local I'd be glad to call the Community College and see if they have a copy machine big enough to copy the map. Or perhaps you'd like to visit them when you are here. Just let me know. My e-mail address is: griffith [email protected]

Married twice that I know of. First, to Julia Rachel FLORENCE (1841) and second to Mary Jane RENEAU (1852). Lived in Bethany, Jefferson County, GA. Stated he was born in NC. Contemporaries stated he was very well educated and census documents indicate he was pretty well off. My link to Davidson County, NC is the name "Bethany." I know he named in little community in Jefferson County, GA "Bethany," he named a school he founded in Jefferson County, GA "Bethany Institute" and his son, William Russell DANIEL, did the same when he moved to Morgan County, GA. I have no idea who his parents were. Given names in this family that cannot be accounted for are: Mary, James, William, Alice and Elizabeth. If you have any information on this family, I would like to hear from you. Thanks.

Posted on: Davidson County, NCGenWeb Query Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/Davidson?read=1485 Surname: Hunt, Wilson ------------------------- Cathy, I have a transcription of a document filed in the Davidson Co. Equity Court in 1827, that mentions a William Wiseman, guardian of Elizabeth, William, Daniel, Hannah, Joanna, David and Susanna Hunt. According to this document they were children of Elijah Hunt, son of Gershom and Eunice (FitzRandolf) Hunt of Hunterdon Co., NJ. The document is a petition for the court to allow the family of Abraham Hunt to sell a tract of his land after his death, having never married or had children. I am a descendent of Col. Jonathan (1716) and Mary (Smith) Hunt. His son, Wilson, moved to KY where my line continued, but I would like to trace some of the family that stayed in NC. I am willing to email you a copy of this transcription, if interested. Would you be able to tell me anything about William Wiseman and the children he was guardian of, or who Elijah Hunt's wife was?--Laura

Posted on: Davidson County, NCGenWeb Query Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/Davidson?read=1480 Surname: Barkley, Todd, Madison, Davis, Others ------------------------- My ancestors were Robert Barkley b. est 1717 - 1723 m to Leah of Old Rowan County now Davidson Co, Jersey Settlement. This family (about 11 children, including my ancestor Walter b 1776. Others were; Samuel, John, Robert, William, David, and some sisters) is extensively discussed on the Rowan Co webpage, and genforum Barclay and Barkley. I hope to visit the area in the forseeable future and wish I knew more about where the Barkley plantations were. These waterways were mentioned in Robert Barkley of Rowan Co's will; Potts and Richards. Can someone tell me more about the whereabouts of these waterways? I expect they are very small. I will post Robert Barkley m to Leah's will elsewhere on this web for any interested cousins, but recommend that they visit the other websites mentioned for more detailed information.

He had a son named RICHARD KING who went away with money to buy land in KY and never returned (was reported as getting sick and dying on the journey). Richard's daughter AURILLIA was raised by her grandfather KALVIN KING. She married DAINEL BOWERS in Davidson County, NC, at age 16. I am interested in hearing from anyone connected to this KING or BOWERS family.
