    1. [NCDAVIDS] HANNER/HANNAH Family of Davidson Co., NC
    2. Dan Stevenson
    3. Posted on: Davidson County, NCGenWeb Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/Davidson/1587 Surname: HANNER, HANNAH, WALK, SMITH, LOPP, FRITTS, HEDRICK, EVERHART, LEONARD, KEPLEY, POPE, SECHRIST, BECK, SHOAF, LOHR ------------------------- I placed a query much like this over a year ago, but now have much more data. I am working on a huge WALK family tree. One of the WALK descendants of Davidson County is Susannah SMITH who was born in 1823 at Davidson County, North Carolina. She died 01 Oct 1896 at Davidson County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of Mary Ann LOPP (1790-1882) who married Peter Washington SMITH (1790-1830) in 1812. Peter, Mary, Susannah and Susannah's husband are buried at Beck's Church Cemetery, near Lexington, Davidson County, North Carolina. Susannah married Dr. Tarquinius P. HANNAH (1821-1855) on 30 Apr 1845 at Davidson County, North Carolina. They were the parents of five children, all of whom it is thought used the HANNER surname: 1. Laura Jane HANNER (1846-1934) married John Henry FRITTS (1834-1897) (son of William and Anna FRITTS) in 1867 at Davidson County, North Carolina. They were the parents of two known children; CHARLIE (1878-1968) (who married Julia A. HEDRICK EVERHART (1878-1963) and an unknown child that died before 1900. Laura (and John??) is buried at the Hedrick's Grove Cemetery in Davidson County. 2. Emory G. HANNER (1847-1864) never married and is buried at Beck's Church Cemetery. 3. Tarquinius M. HANNER (1849-1882) married Eliza Julia LEONARD (1853-before 1880) (daughter of John and Christena LEONARD) on 15 Jun 1869 at Davidson County. They had two known children: John L. (1872-???) and William L. (1874-???). I don't know where Tarquinius Jr. or Eliza are buried. 4. Frances Cornelia HANNER (1852-1890) married George Mathias HEDRICK (1848-1906) on 27 May 1869 at Davidson County, North Carolina. George was a distant cousin of Frances' and he was the son of: Henry C. HEDRICK (1821-1881) who married Rachel KEPLEY (1824-1894) in 1847. Frances and George were the parents of nine known children: Emory Tarquinnis HEDRICK (1869-1926); Susan Adnett HEDRICK (1871-1915); Henry Hanner HEDRICK (1873-1954); Laura Jane HEDRICK (1876-1941); Carrie Rachel HEDRICK (1878-1912); John William HEDRICK (1880-1883); George Lee HEDRICK (1883-1956); Bertha Louise HEDRICK (1885-1967); and Frances Isabell HEDRICK (1887-1965). Frances and George are buried at Beck's. After Frances died in 1890 George married Emily J. POPE SECHRIST (1849-1931) in 1894. 5. Susannah Adnet HANNER (1855-1879) married Henry Washington BECK (1852-1879) (son of Solomon D. BECK (1822-1869) and Catharine L. SHOAF (c1821-???) on 12 Mar 1874 at Davidson County and are buried at Beck's. They had one child: Laura Jane BECK (1876-1950) who married Charles Franklin LOHR (1869-1938) in 1892. Laura and Charles were the parents of ten known children (born 1893 through 1906). Laura and Charles are buried at the Mt. Tabor UCC in Davidson County. If anyone has any information on the descendants of this family or the ancestors of Dr. Tarquinius P. HANNAH (1821-1855) please contact me to trade further information. [email protected]
