Posted on: Davidson County, NCGenWeb Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/Davidson/1630 Surname: RICHARDS, JONES ------------------------- I am also descended from Christian Richards who lived near Abbotts Creek in Davidson Co., NC, through his son, Elias Richards, who married Sarah Jones. I saw one reference on a hand-written pedigree chart obtained from the Washington Co., IN, Genealogical Society that said Christian married Elizabeth Tucker, but have never been able to find documentation for that. Do you know the source of that information? I've had no better luck trying to determine who the parents of Sarah Jones were.

Especially interested in 1.) those families that may have moved into Orange County, North Carolina, prior to 1850, and 2.) any proven/possible relationship between the Workman's of Davidson and Orange Counties. Posted on: Davidson County, NCGenWeb Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/Davidson/1623 Surname: Fritts, Gobble ------------------------- I have just started to research my family genealogy in Davidson County, but would like to provide the following information in case it might be helpful. My grandmother was Mamie Elsie (Fritts) Broadway who lived most of her life in the Reeds area. Her father's name was Phillip Edward Fritts and her mother's name was Mittie Roberta Gobble. I believe they were married Sept. 20, 1895, but I do not have much other information. I believe Phillip's father was Hamilton Fritts and Mittie's mother was Burrell Gobble. Please let me know if you have any information that would help. Thanks.
Posted on: Davidson County, NCGenWeb Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/Davidson/1622 Surname: CHAPMAN, COATS, NUNNALLY, SIMESON, YOUNG, LOMAX, BARNES, WOOD, POOL ------------------------- My parents were Sidney Ray SIMERSON and Nannie Elizabeth YOUNG.My grandparent was Samuel Elijah SIMERSON and his father was William Henry SIMERSON. William Henry's first wife was Frances "Fannie" NUNNALLY, and all of these were born, died and buried in the Churchland area of Davidson County. All are mentioned in the history book of Churchland Baptist Church. Recently I came upon an old family bible containing Simerson data that I already knew, but there are many references to different NUNNALLY persons, including birth/death dates and marrying date and spouse. I do not know the relationship of these mentioned NUNNALLY persons to each other. I suspect that Elisha, the oldest male, is the ancestor of all the others. The NUNNALLY names I have are: Elisha, Frances, William, Nancy, James, Polly, Betsy, Rebecca, Elisha (Jr.?). Each of these names has a date and event attached to it. Entries are in old type script and some are difficult to read because of ink blobs or lines/letters running together. The paper is brown with age. If there are any NUNNALLY family still around that area that could use any of this data; and that could put them together in family units; I'd be glad to supply what I have and only ask in return the family structures of those names and how the one NUNNALLY in my family, Frances "Fanny" fits in to one of them. This would expand my SIMERSON database somewhat. Respectfully submitted, Bert Simerson

-- I have created a web page for Marriage Bond Index of NC 1741-1868 <A HREF="http://marriagebondofnc.homestead.com/Home.html">marriagebondofNC </A> http://marriagebondofnc.homestead.com/Home.html This page is not complete and will not be complete for several months. There are over 8,000 Bride and 8,000 Groom microfilm pages that list all marriage bonds for all counties of NC. I will add new surnames weekly so please don't get discouraged if you do not see the surname you are looking for. I have discovered that once you obtain the Index page that you are looking for it is easier to contact the NC Archives and get a copy of the original Marriage Bond. If you would like a specific Surname added to the page you may send me an e-mail and I will put that name on my list to add ASAP. All I ask is that you send one e-mail per Surname. You may send as many Surnames as you like, but please do so separately so that I may easily alphabetize my list that I take with me. In the Subject area put MB of NC (this will get my attention) In the body of the e-mail type the surname you would like added in ALL CAPS. Best of Luck to you all in your search for your ancestors. Hi Margie Bare with me, I am going to give you the long answer. lol On early records in Rowan Co I can verify my Charles Barier 1759 tax list..earliest record for the area. Also a George Henry Berger/Barrier (His land grant was written "Barrier") land grant 1761- see usgenweb Rowan Co deeds. George Henry had a brother John who later goes to Cabarrus Co,NC and descendants go by "Barrier". George H and John''s parents were Michael & Catherine Bearyer (this connection has been verified in deeds). Now to the Barrier of Ky. There is also an early record of Abraham Barrier noted in Rowan Co, records Abraham was said to be married to Elizabeth Reynolds An Abraham can be found holding the survey chains for George Henry's land grant and Abraham can be found on a 1759 militia list along with my Charles Barrier. Both are named "Barriger" on the militia list. I have found no DIRECT connection between Abraham, Charles or brothers George Henry/John to Charles or Abraham, although I highly suspect they are all related. In addition, there is an early record of a Phillip Berger/Barrier who dies young and George Henry pays taxes on land for Phillips "orphans. Also, a Jacob Berger/Barrier who disappears off the records and it is said he removed to TN. Abraham can be found obtaining land in Burke Co and then in Spartanberg SC and by 1810 you can find him on the census in Ky. Abraham is said to have a son Richard b 4 Feb 1768 d 1 July 1854 bur Baker Cem, Concord, Ky who was a minister in Wayne Co Ky. Richard married Catherine Massey 20 Aug 1789 in Lincoln Co, NC. Catherine was the daughter of Nicholas Massey. Richard's son Aaron b 14 Feb 1798 in Pulaski Co, KY d 1890 married Susan Chrisman. Aaron and Susan were said to be the parents of Elijah C who married Frances Jane Tuttle b 1835 Ky and died 1918 in Pottawattamie Co, Iowa, Minden,, Iowa Cem Please verify this information as it has all been passed on to me and I only have verified up to Abraham on the 1810 census. Family lore says Abraham moved on to Alabama with another son Martin and he died abt 1835 in Jackson co Ala. I have not been able to verify that information.
