SECOND GENERATION 2. George Haines (Henry Christian, 1). Residence in NC. Burial in Liberty Cem, Davidson Co NC. He married, first, Mrs Haines. Children: i. Marcia3 Haines. She married Mr Sysloff. 5 ii. Ann Haines. iii. Eliza Haines. She married1 Solomon Spargin. He married, second, Deliah Landers. She died in IL. In 1849 Deliah and her three daughters journeyed to Illinois, spending a year enroute with relatives in Rogersville, Hawkins County, Tennessee. It is thought that Deliah, and her daughters, settled with her step-daughter Mrs Ann Swisegood near Augusta, Hancock County, Illinois and later married a Mr Whitlon or Kelton. Children: 3 iv. Dougan, Elisha Hedgecock was the son of John and Keziah Delphine Welch Hitchcock. He married Elizabeth Idol daughter of Barnett Idol. Elisha and his sister Susannah were killed in an wagon accident and were buried in an old Hedgecock Family Cemetery. Elizabeth Idol Hedgecock later married Martin Glasscock and had issue. This is spelled out in detail in my book THE HITCHCOCK HEDGECOCK HEDGCOCK FAMILY IN MARYLAND AND NORTH CAROLINA and Their Descendants (hardbound, 491 pages with an every name index). Only 150 copies were printed and it is still available through me. There is a book on the Idol Family: Descendants of Barnett and Elizabeth Meier Idol, Mattie Ruth Idol, 1980. He had a brother named Osborne. This family cannot be traced to the previous generation unless you know that they changed their name from Whisenhunt to Hunt. Johann Heinrich Schoff arrived at the Port of Phildelphia on the ship "Pheonix" from Rotterdam, Holland on November 22, 1752 at the age of 13. Jacob, brother to Johann, arrived at Phildelphia on September 23, 1752 on the ship "Ann Galley". Another brother, Fredrich, went the same month to New York. I have found all of these Schoffs arriving at Heilbron, Holland in May of 1752. From there the whole family went on Leucht's transport to Rotterdam, where they found it impossible for all to go on one ship. ------------------------------------------------------------ John Henry(Johann Heinrich)Shoaf(1739-1807) came to Rowan County, NC in 1765 with his wife, Anne Sprecher and 2 of their children. ( The gravestone was not readable) He married Polly Hege and built an inn where travelers stopped for the night between Lexington and Salem. The homestead was just west of the New Friendship Baptist Church in Forsyth County. Both are buried at Old Vernon graveyard. She is the Daughter of Johan Bernhart EYTEL - EITEL or as he was known in North Carolina John Barnett IDOL. Elizabeth and his family are in the 1850 census with the rest of the family in Illinois. Her name is still HEDGECOCK which is what the family went by after the 1800's. But there are others who have her married after 1802 to other men. Does anyone have an idea what is going on? A death date or place for Elisha who was not in his fathers will in 1830's would be wonderful. Any other information you might have on these families is always nice.
