Does anyone have any information on these BECKERDITE, MOTSINGER and BODENHAMER families to trade? What happened to the sons John and Caleb BECKERDITE? [email protected] Christina ROTHROCK was born 25 Jan 1813 at Friedberg, then Stokes (now Forsyth) County, North Carolina; the sixth of nine children of Jacob ROTHROCK (1771-1848) and Esther ZIEGLER (1777-1845). Christina married Hugh BECKERDITE (b. 21 Jun 1809 at NC and d. 23 Jun 1864 at Forysth Co., NC). I don't know when or where they were married. Christina died 23 Dec 1853 at Forsyth Co., NC. The parents and six of their children are buried at the Hopewell Moravian Church Graveyard in Davidson Co., NC. The family lived just across the County line in Forsyth Co., NC. In 1850 the family (parents and seven children) was living at Forsyth County, Family 132/132, North Carolina. In 1860 the family (Hugh and all nine children) was living at Forsyth County, South Fork Township, Family 1505/1432, North Carolina. In 1870 Caleb, Hugh, Esther, Salome, Lena (listed as age 28, who was she? was she the daughter Christina (Tena) and thus did she not die in 1862?) and Eliza were living at Broadbay Township, Family #104, Forsyth County, North Carolina. HUGH was the son of John BECKERDITE (b. c1777 at Frederick Co., MD; m. Oct 1801 at Rowan Co., NC, d. 21 Mar 1863 at Davidson Co., NC) and Elizabeth YOKLEY (b. Mar 1780 and d. May 1861 at Davidson Co., NC). Elizabeth was the daughter of Hugh YOKLEY and Hannah ETTINGER. John BECKERDITE was christened on 27 Dec 1777 at Frederick, Frederick County, Maryland, the son of Richard BECKERDITE and Mary WRIGHT; who married 22 Aug 1776 at Middletown, Frederick Co., Maryland. Richard and Mary moved to Randolph County, North Carolina where Richard died after 1830. Christina and Hugh BECKERDITE were the parents of nine known children: 1. Mary Ann BECKERDITE (1832-1884) (or Mary Alice?) married Andrew Jackson (A.J) MOTSINGER (1826-1901) on 04 Apr 1861 at Forsyth Co., NC. A.J. was the son of Adam MOTSINGER (1790-1864) and Mary IDOL (1793-1873). Mary and A.J. were the parents of six known MOTSINGER children: Christina Jane (1862-???)(nothing known); John Harrison (1863-1931)(buried at Wallburg, did he ever marry?); Andrew Sherman (1865-1928)(buried at Wallburg, father of ten); Mary H. At this point, I am not sure if the A.G. that married Margaret Iiams is the same A.G. Do you have any other information for him? Unless Seane is a nickname for Margaret, then she is probably a third wife. FYI: I determined that Atkin County was really YADKIN County. Thanks, Regina
Posted on: Davidson County, NCGenWeb Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/Davidson/11816 Surname: ------------------------- Hi Sue, I have just finished my survey on Abbotts Creek Primitive Church Cemetery. I did not find any Farabees or Jacksons, however, my next project is the upper cemetery located at Abbotts Creek Baptist. It could be that these surnames are located there. Another possibility, if the Jacksons and the Farabees lived around Abbotts Creek circa early 1800s, they may be buried in the Old Bethel Methodist Church Cemetery which was located in Browntown. The church was built around the year 1800 and the last service was held in 1864. The sad part to this is that no church records have been found and the cemetery was ruined by a farmer in the early 1900s. I plan to start my survey on the upper cemetery at Abbotts Creek soon, if I find anything, I'll let you know !! Best Of Luck, Carol

Perhaps you can answer a related question as well. In the IGI there is a listing of one John Grady born 15 oct 1802 in Davidson Co., NC and James O. Stephens as a relative. I'm pretty sure I've got John Grady's descendancy well in hand, but his ancestry is a puzzel to me. And I haven't figured who JOS is. Is this something that you can illuminate?

Posted on: Davidson County, NCGenWeb Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/Davidson/11796 Surname: GRADY, STEPHENS, BRIGGS, JONES, WORKMAN ------------------------- I suspect a connection between William A. Garner and Sarah Grady Workman with John Stephens and Elizabeth Briggs as Sarah's parents are listed as Henry Workman and Sarah Elizabeth Grady. All share origins in the Fayetteville/Rowan area and wind up in Schuyler/Brown Co. They must have migrated as part of a general migration of families from Rowan to Schyuler in the late 1830's. I'm unable as yet to identify John Stephen's ancestry, and it must not be easy as he later went to Ogden Utah. That indicates he was a Mormon and his ancestry, if known, should have been investigated quite thoroughly by his descendants for their family history projects. If you discover anything, I'm keen to know the details.
