Posted on: Davidson County, NCGenWeb Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/Davidson/11861 Surname: SICELOFF, FUSSELMAN, WAGNER, LONG, LIVENGOOD, CHESTER, MOSER, CLINARD, DeLAP, JOHNSON, WEIR, WOOD, HAINES, BEARD ------------------------- You will find the surname SICELOFF spelled innumerable different ways. Much of the following information on the descendants of ERHARDT (AIRHART) SICELOFF (1740 - 1818) comes from the wonderful work of COURTNEY SICELOFF of Georgia. Thank you COURTNEY! Much of the earlier information comes from the extensive work of ROBERT SIZELOVE of Ohio. On 01 Sep 1738 the ship HARLE landed at Philadelphia (from Rotterdam, Holland) with GEORGE (HANS) NICKEL (NICHOLAS) ZEISSLOFF (b. 26 March 1704, Bayern, Pfalz, Bad Duerkheim, Germany, d. 24 March 1756, Schuylkill Co., PA), JOHANN BALTAZAR ZEISSLOFF (b. 09 March 1705/06, Bayern, Pfalz, Bad Duerkheim, Germany, d. unknown age) and JOHANN GEORGE ZEISSLOFF (b. 17 July 1709, Bayern Pfalz, Bad Duerkheim, Germany; d. ???) along with JOHANN GEORGE's wife ANNA CATHARINA WAGGNER ZEISLOFF (age 22). NICHOLAS, BALTZAR and GEORG were brothers. GEORG and CATHARINE (along with three young children, two boys and a girl) were massacred by Indians on 24 Mar 1756 at Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania while on their way to North Carolina. Their other two children, ERHARDT (1740-1818) and GEORGE (1750-1809), had left earlier for North Carolina and escaped the massacre. ERHARDT (AIRHART) SICELOFF (1740 - 1818; aged 78 years, 1 month, 13 days) married MARIA DOROTHEA FUSSELMAN (1740 - 12 Nov 1803). They are both buried at the Bethany United Church of Christ Cemetery, at Davidson County, NC. AIRHART's tombstone reads "ERHART ZEISLOF, Pennsylvania Private 2 CL, Capt. William Meyers's Company, Revolutionary War." AIRHART's brother GEORGE (1750-1809) married SUSANNAH WAGNER (b. c1771 - and died after 25 Sep 1832) on 03 Nov 1791 (daughter of DANIEL WAGNER (1746-1827) and ELIZABETH HARMAN (1753-1820) and they are also buried at Bethany. They had no children. AIRHART I and DOROTHEA were the parents of 15 children: 1. CHARITY, married FREDERICK LONG, b. c1783 in Germany, on 11 Sep 1804 (where?) 2. 3. Posted on: Davidson County, NCGenWeb Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/Davidson/11859 Surname: Whisenhunt, Hunt ------------------------- My g-grandfather was one of the Whisenhunts from Davidson Co. who changed his name to Hunt (Richard, son of Andrew, son of Henry). Do you have any insight into why they changed the name, and did ALL the children of Andrew (some migrated west) make this change? This name change was not known in Richard's family only two generations after it was made, and I question whether his own children knew.

    3. I am sorry I no longer have the original request for information about a David Hunt that lived in the Davidson Co. (formerly Rowan Co.) area of NC but after responding to the list about the descendants of Ralph Hunt Sr. of Newtown Long Island, New York who came to the Jersey Settlement in Rowan/Daivdson Co. via Maidenhead, Hunterdon Co. NJ I wanted to respond to the requester about the possible David Hunts that I have in my records. I don't remember if dates were mentioned so I have included all dates of David Hunts in former Rowan Co. NC. There is a David Hunt b. abt. 1767 who married a Sarah who was the son of Gersham (1923-1807) Hunt and either first wife Eunice FitzRandolph or second wife Elizabeth (?) who were from Maidenhead NJ but resided and died in Potts Creek, Rowan Co. NC This David had children named Elizabeth, Gersham b. 1799, Polly, Deborah, Sally and Jane. And there was a David Hunt who was the son of Elijah Hunt who died in 1825 and Johanna Wiseman (Elijah was also the son of Gersham and Eunice FitzRandolph Hunt).

    3. However there were also Hunts who came down to Davidson Co. are when it was still Rowan Co. in 1759 Col Jonathan Hunt was one of the first 5 settlers in the area that became known as the Jersey Settlement. He eventually wound up settling in Davie/Yadkin Co. area and in fact Huntsville in Yadkin Co. is named for his family and his son Charles Hunt. Col. Jonathan had 3 wives (first one was a Smith) and about 25 children - he is buried in Eaton's Baptist Church cemetery. He was part of the Hunt family who lived in Maidenhead, Hopewell Twp. Hunterdon Co. NJ prior to his coming to the Jersey Settlement - these Hunts were descendants of Ralph Hunt Sr. of Newtown Long Island NY (prior to NJ). I am a descendant of Ralh Hunt Sr.'s daughter Anna and have done some research on the family. I am not a direct line decendant through Col. Jonathan Hunt himself but he is part of this family and I know of him because he is "locally" famous in this area's history and in the Jersey Settlement history of which I have done some research and written a paper on. I will look in my records this evening at home but I don't recall a David Hunt but he may well be part of this family - I have not researched this line (children etc.) extensively because my own Hunt ancestor becomes part of my Phillips family long before Col. Jonathan was even born. Anyway I did want to mention this other HUNT family in the area as an avenue of research. Good luck.
