    1. Re: [NCCURRIT] Gray Family on Hatteras Island, NC
    2. Hi Roberta, That is a lot of research that you sent. Much of it I have read over and over before in the Brayton books or is it Dorman. I have many from both gentlemen. I didn't have all the tax records. 9I must read it all again 0, but it seems to me that if Joseph Gray married in 1775, he may have been too old to be William's son whom I believe you say is "single" in 1782 or 3. Also this deed in 1782/83 is definitely, my Joseph and he was of Camden at that time. I will send you the links to the Proofs about Mary Woodhouse, next email. 695 - p 76 Dec 31 1782, April 24 1783 John Humphries merchant of CT to Joseph Gray of Camden Co, planter, #400, tenement and land on Churche's Island beg at a corner pine standing near the sound between Jarvis and Woodhouse, w to Michael Oneels line, n on the w side Churche's island to Hillary White's e alogn White's line to the middle of a marsh called Long Marsh, s along the sound to the first stn [acreage not mentioned], wit William Lurry, jurat, John Gray, signed John Humphries Thanks again for all this. Oh, I looked at the Gray DNA Project not long ago, but I don't think that most of the tests show the lines. I may be wrong, but I couldn't see that the Currituck lines have been tested. I have some deeds that indicate this link. I'm sending you offline everything I have on this family. You have Mary's last name, Woodhouse. I don't have that. Do you have a source for it? It's not a typical Hatteras Island name indicating he may have married elsewhere. I suspect that his father was Thomas, as that is the name of his first son. Many of the early records for that area are missing. I did find some deeds recorded in Hyde Co., Books. I didn't know they were from Hatteras as I am not familiar with the area. My line is below. Nancy Gray who married Daniel Burfoot Lindsey was my gggrandmother. They moved to MS then AR. If I find any thing more, I will let you know. And if you find proof of Joseph's father, please, let me know. 1 Joseph Gray d: Bet.
