It's titled "Where Have all the Indians Gone? Native American Eastern Seaboard Dispersal, Genealogy and DNA in Relation to Sir Walter Raleigh's Lost Colony of Roanoke." http://www.jogg.info/52/files/Estes1.pdf I was asked by the editor of the Journal of Genetic Genealogy to write this article and was honored to have it accepted and published. There may be other articles of interest to those interested in the more general aspects of genetic genealogy as well, in the current edition as well as earlier ones. You can find the earlier editions online and free at http://www.jogg.info/. For those of you who have not been involved with academic publications and who know me, you won't recognize this as my writing style. Basicly, it has to be "all business" and it took several months and several iterations of the paper to whittle it down from 87 pages to what is published. In my original, the supplemental materials were included in the original paper, and I feel they are incredibly important, so don't forget to look at those as well. While the paper's main focus is on the Lost Colony, a great deal of the information is relevant to the study of Native people east of the Mississippi, regardless of their tribal affiliation. Anyone interested in this topic will probably find this article of interest. Also, for those who do not subscribe to the Yahoo Discussion Group for our Lost Colony project, you can do so by simply e-mailing me and asking for an invitation. I'll gladly send you one.
