We are reaching out to other counties in Eastern North Carolina as there are many family connections that go back to New Bern and Craven County. The July event and Monument presentation to the City of New Bern went well. The aldermen decided that it should be discussed further so there is going to be a work session this coming Tuesday evening. Please see below for more details. Thank you to the group members that were able to attend the Board of Aldermen meeting. Also, there was a technical glitch with the TV broadcast in regards to the slides for our presentation. They looked great on the screens at City Hall, but not on TV for some reason. You may download a PDF version of the slide presentation via this link. The file is about 20 Megabytes which will download quickly on a high-speed internet connection and much slower on a dial-up. http://tinyurl.com/y2xjlw4 The Families of New Bern and Craven County Meeting Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 3pm at the New Bern-Craven County Public Library, 400 Johnson Street, New Bern We will meet in the conference room off the lobby. They will not know until Monday April 19th if the work session will occur on Tuesday, April 27th at 5:30pm or if they will just discuss the issues at the regular Board of Aldermen meeting at 7pm. Once we know a definite time, we will let everyone know. Monument Proposal Presentation to the Craven County Board of Commissioners Monday, May 3, 2010 at 7pm at Craven County Administration Building, Second Floor, Corner of Craven and Broad Streets Note: Mrs. Gwen Bryan, Clerk to the Board, contacted me with the day and time change as the Board hears from citizens at the first meeting of the month and not the second.
