    3. I assume you have viewed the Northern wills on the Currituck website? You are right, there are many people with the same first names. I grew up in Rowan County (which several hundred years ago was a HUGE landmass). I will be visiting there (Rowan) over Thanksgiving. If I may be of assistance while there (there is a large genealogy library there), please advise. My Mother's family is Currituck and Camden County, primarily, and later on, on her mother's side, Norfolk area. I have not found what the Currituck > Rowan County connection was, but if you discover it, I'd love to know. I know why my mother ended up there, but no one else. Are you in NC? -----Original Message----- From: nccurrit-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:nccurrit-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Joseph Nothern Sent: Sunday, November 23, 2008 4:10 PM To: nccurrit@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [NCCURRIT] Phillip and Charity Northern of Currituck, NC info request Thanks for your information. It is quite interesting. I have collected many pieces of information but as of now I cannot organize and connect the Northern's. There are many John's and Philip's. My name is Joseph Clare Nothern and I have traced my ancestors back to a Walter B. Nothern. I find him in Ohio in 1810 and then he moves to Indiana. He was born in North Carolina in 1784. The Northern's in Virginia have been researched and organized but I have never found any listed family tree of the Northern's who lived in North Carolina. I have seen the name Nothern listed in Currituck and in Rowen Counties. So I have decided to try to organize the Northern's in North Carolina to identify where my Walter might fit in. I hope soon I will be able to chart many of these people and then I will send it to you for your input.> From: f150dgdrury@frontiernet.net> To: nccurrit@rootsweb.com> Date: Sun, 23 Nov 2008 15:09:59 -0500> Subject: Re: [NCCURRIT] Phillip and Charity Northern of Currituck, NC info request> > Your Original question asked about Philip and Charity Northern...do you have> the dates of birth/death? 3. And aif you ever find out what drew so many from Currituck to Rowan please please let me know at pungo@cox.net I do know that in 1846 there were two HUGE hurricanes that hit Currituck--so big that salt water fish were in Currituck Sound and when the water receeded the farm land was covered in salt. Between the two hurricanes, just about everything was destroyed. Then I just read that Currituck was infested with maliria and typhoid. Who knows?? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Drury " <f150dgdrury@frontiernet.net> To: <nccurrit@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, November 23, 2008 6:40 PM Subject: Re: [NCCURRIT] Phillip and Charity Northern of Currituck,NC info request >I assume you have viewed the Northern wills on the Currituck website? > You are right, there are many people with the same first names. > I grew up in Rowan County (which several hundred years ago was a HUGE > landmass). > I will be visiting there (Rowan) over Thanksgiving.
