I have Timothy Bateman Gilbert the son of Benjamin Gilbert and Nancy Bateman. His older half-sister, Marcella Gilbert married Joseph Scott and they bought property in Moyock ca 1857 after moving from Perquimans Co to Norfolk County. Marcella's brother Jefferson Gilbert also lived in Moyock before moving on to Lower Norfolk so there were relative he could have been living with. Benjamin Gilbert 2nd marriage was to Nancy Bateman and they only had the one child. The interesting thing is Jefferson Gilbert (Benjamin Gilbert) married Lavenia Bateman who is Nancy's sister. I could never locate Timothy on the 1850 but his half brother, George Washington Gilbert, was living with his brother Jefferson. I believe Nancy must have died before 1850 and he was living with a relative, maybe even Jefferson. I have quite a bit of information on the Gilberts as Marcella was my great-great grandmother. Married Mariah Walker of Moyock, somewhere along the way - don't know why or how they hooked up. Any help will be appreciated. Have found Timothy Gilbert (presumably a cousin) who was born in 1843 in the same area. His descendants are now in Texas.
