Joseph and Anne Austin witnessed the will of Thomas Holbrook in 1717 in Somerset Co., MD. There was a William Austin living there in 1728. There were also Austin's in Accomack Co., VA. There was an interview with the driver of the car, Scott Ferebee, and there was one other young friend, whose name I do not recall, who died as well. I believe the accident occurred in Norfolk. The boys were all from Currituck County, NC. At the time, I did not save the article, as I did not realize that young Leland was a relative. Has anyone else run across this on their searches? For some reason, I cannot get back to it online. Thank you! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Had the enjoyment of going through the deed books in Currituck Co. Courthouse and Chesapeake, but didn't know of any other old records to go through at the time of my research. The NW Baptist Church mins. were shared with me and they told me nothing of the burials or cemetery info. I need to work the homestead deeds up to the present and just see if I can locate the land and maybe visit the area again. The Currituck Co. DBK have Dempsey Casey deeds that mention a cemetery exclusion and then when Martin Ross Casey inherits and sells to Daniel Padrick in 1826 the deed again mentions this cemetery and then within a week M.R.Casey purchased,in the Powells Point area from Polly Barnes , daughter of Thomas Etheridge, five acres by a Church. My thoughts have always been, since M.R. Casey left the state, that this five acres was to be used for a cemetery as well, yet I see no Casey family members listed in the Currituck Co. Cemetery book. Elizabeth Crafts Casey died between 1809-1814. Dempsey her husband and preacher of the N.W.Baptist Church, died in 1814. Two children died at and should be buried there in 1800 and 1803(Mary and Polly), Fredrick is dead by 1814 and William Dossey Casey by 1826.Thank you for any help with the old records you may have access to. In more recent years we found this marker buried in the muddy bottom of Warren Gilgo's creek. He owned and operated a schooner "Post Boy" between Portsmouth and Washington, NC. He was married and had one child. Don't know where he came from either or where his family went. Also there was a Cornelious Austin who purchased items from the estate austin of David Wallace at Portsmouth in 1809.
