I think the last one is from 1861. I cannot find a Mathilda in these - so she must have married after this time into a Thompson family. But if you link her, I would happily provide you with this to see if it is helpful with Currituck Thompson ancestors. Author: MIDGETT Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.northcarolina.counties.currituck/1461.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: There is a Matilda & Edmond Thompson buried in the Poplar Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. You can view their tombstones at: http://www.ncgenweb.us/currituck/cemeteries/index_poplar_branch_baptist_church.html. According to the 1900 Currituck Co. census Edmond was born in 1843 & Matilda in 1848. In the 1850 census (http://www.ncgenweb.us/currituck/census/1850410.html) there is a Matilda Evans, age 2, living in the home of Jesse & Polly Evans. Currituck's marriages shows that Matilda Evans (no parents listed) was married to Edmond Thompson (son of William & E. Thompson) on Sept. 8, 1878 in Poplar Branch by J.M. Woodhouse. Maybe this information will give you a start. Kay M. Sheppard Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. All of the slave ancestors we are looking for carried the last name of Bibbins after emancipation(Im assuming this name came from NC).These slaves would have been in the Gregory family for a long time (earliest known ancestor was Annie Bibbins born 1802 and she was a Gregory Slave in Currituck and Chilicothe. In the 1850 Census Carter was alive, in 1860 he had died. She lived in Currituck in 1850 (Tull's Creek)1860 (Gibbs Woods), and 1870 in Moyock, and then 1880 in Moyock with her son Reuben Bradley. She was born in 1812, so would be up in age in 1880. Wonder if she could be buried in Moyock. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
