I recently received information on another Clark line that could connect with my Clark line. I'm not entirely sure, but thought I would inquire this list to see if anyone else is working on Clark lines of Cumberland/Moore Co's. David Clark -- born Sept 10, 1756 married his cousin Nancy McLean, Aug 6, 1770 in Cumberland Co. David died April 7, 1835. I'm not sure of the validity of the next part of the notes, but it is said he named a son Hugh McCraine Clark. It was also noted that Alexander and Hugh McCraine were living in his household at one time. This is particularly interesting to me because my ancestor Alexander Clark's marriage bond to his second wife Margaret McCraine/McRaine was signed by Alan McLean. I have yet to find Alexander Clark's parents or siblings. He had quite a few children with his first wife, and none with his second wife (to my knowledge -- at the time of his death, the property was split between his second wife and children). Most of his children (if not all) ended up in Calloway Co Kentucky along with other Cumberland Co names. Back to David Clark -- he is said to be the son of Gilbert and Ann Alexander. It's believed he also had a brother, Daniel Clark who reportedly married a woman by the name of Eleanor, and reportedly had three sons -- Alexander, Archibald, and William. It's believed these children might have migrated to South Carolina, but I don't have any other information than that. Here's some information on my Alexander Clark -- Alexander Clark married Margaret Thompson March 4, 1794 (probably in Moore Co or in the surrounding area). She is believed to be the sister of a Daniel Thompson who lived next door -- possibly the son of Malcom or Dugald Thompson. They had the following children: Catherine Clark b Oct 6, 1796 - she married Daniel Roderick McIver (son of Little John and Mary Monroe) Mary Clark b May 29, 1798 - she married Miles Kelly (son of Duncan and Mary Kelly) Florah Clark b March 7, 1800 - she married Alexander Shaw Gilbert Clark b June 2, 1803 died October 27, 1824 Malcom Clark b October 16, 1806 - he married Sarah/Sallie Kelly (sister of Miles Kelly) Margaret Clark b Oct 20, 1810 - to my knowledge, she never married, and if memory serves me correctly, she died in Calloway Co. KY Alexander's first wife, Margaret Thompson, died in 1813 probably in Moore Co NC. So, if someone on the list can help decipher the Clark lines, I'd love to hear from you.
