    1. Re: [NCCUMBER] Shaw, McCraine, Thompson, Kelly, McIver, CLARK
    2. In a message dated 2/1/2007 12:24:31 AM Eastern Standard Time, [email protected] writes: Alexander Clark - Buffalo Creek area - founder of Buffalo Presbyterian Church (I have the book - Bountiful Legacy of a Mother), married Margaret Thompson (believed to be related to Daniel, possibly both the child of Malcolm Thompson), then married Margaret McRaine/McCraine in 1822 Cumberland Co. The marriage bond was signed also by an Alan McLean - anyone know who this might be? Alexander and Margaret Thompson Clark had several children - Mary who married Miles Kelly, son of Duncan and Mary Kelly Malcom/Malcolm who married Sarah Kelly, sister of Miles, daughter of Duncan and Mary Kelly Catherine who married Daniel Roderick McIver, son of Little John and Mary McIver Flora who married an Alexander Shaw, though I know the least about this couple I think there was also a Daniel Clark, but he died prior to 1830. Alexander died after 1830, and left his "mansion" and 239 acres surrounding it to his second wife Margaret McRaine. He left his children his remaining 718 acres of land. His daughter, Mary Clark Kelly's obit was in the Fayetteville Observer in 1858. >From what I know about the Kelly family -- Duncan Kelly probably died in Scotland or NC. Duncan's wife, Mary, was born approximately 1764, and died Dec 6, 1859 in Calloway Co Kentucky. She and several (probably all) of her children are buried in South Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Calloway Co Kentucky along with a lot of the Clark children and later generations. I also know that several other families with ties to Cumberland and Moore Co ended up in Calloway Co (I know there are Wicker's buried in South Pleasant Grove Cemetery) Duncan Kelly b 1781 died 1876 married to Sarah b 1792 Daniel Kelly b 1793 d May 19, 1873 his headstone is marked as born in Scotland Miles b Sept 15, 1803 d Jan 14, 1869 his headstone marked also as born in Scotland Sallie/Sarah b 1806, d May 7, 1872 Flora b 1800 d 1845 married to John McPherson who was born 1803 and died 1837 There are a lot of gaps. I would really like to solve the mystery of Alexander Clark's parentage or who his siblings are. I am also interested in hearing from someone who has more information on the Kelly, Clark, Thompson, Shaw, or McPherson lines that connect. I have (somewhere) a bunch of stuff on the McIver line.
