Hi, Thank you so much for your reply. My Woodward connection begins with my Great Grandmother, Lillian Pearl Woodward, who was born in 1882 in Raleigh, NC, and died in 1961, in New Bern, NC. She married William McNeal Branch in 1906. William McNeal Branch was born in Fayetteville, NC in 1880 and died sometime around 1918-19, place unknown, possibly from the flu. They had the following children: William Woodward 1907 - 1958 (my grandfather) James Lee 1909 - ca. 1911 Emma Virginia 1912 - 1991 Samuel Parrish 1917 - 2001 Lillian Pearl was the oldest child of James L. (or James McKethan) Woodward and Emma Jane Parrish, who married 15 Sept 1880. Generation 3 Lillian Pearl 1882 - 1961 Mamie Irene 1883 - 1884 Margaret Hines 1885 - ? James Leondilas 1888 - 1943 Julia Esther 1891 - 1894 Mattie Ross (Janie) 1893 - 1984 Generation 2 James L. / James McKethan Woodward was born 12 Oct 1852 and died before 18 Sep 1897, places unknown. This information comes from a family Bible. Emma Jane Parrish was born 6 May 1862, and died 26 Jun 1947. James L. / James McKethan Woodward was the 5th child of Andrew Jackson Woodward and Clara/Clarissa McKethan Mitchell, who married in 20 Oct 1842, Cumberland Co., NC. I know nothing about Clara Mitchell, other than her parent's names, William Mitchell and an Unknown McKethan. I'd love to know more about the Mitchells, if you have information. I'm curious as to whether I'm hooked into the correct Mitchell. Hopefully, you can tell me more. Also, I'm curious to know what James L. / James McKethan's actual name was (Generation 2). His son was James Leondilas, but if McKethan was a family name, that would also make sense. Any other information, particularly family stories or lore would also be wonderful.
