Buffalo Presbyterian then is west of the Barbecue Presbyterian Church community on Barbecue Creek. Col. Vic Clark told me that Clark's Bridge in the Anderson Creek Township of Harnett County was named for his ancestor who settled there when the Argyll group came in 1739. My Ray and Black ancestors settle about a mile from that bridge, and my grandfather was born there. I went there many times when I was growing up, but rarely in the last 50 years. However, I was at Barbecue Presbyterian in the last 5 years for the NC Presbyterian Historical Society annual meeting. A distant cousin who lives there now graciously gave us a guided tour of the Black and McRae family cemeteries near Clark's Bridge and other places of interest.
