    3. Lib, forgot to mention that I found a lot of this info about Emen Parker in one of the McPherson Robeson Co. estates records, as well as Archibald Gilchrist's Robeson Co. estate record. Emen had a hard-to-read script, but he could write and handled his wife's affairs within these estates quite competently. Sarah Ann and her brother Daniel were orphans after the death of their father in 1818, and Gilchrist was their guardian. they went to live with him and did so for many years. A depostion from Archibald Gilchrist's estate talks about Sarah Ann: "Emen Parker and wife et.al vs John Gil [John Gilchrist] adm. etc John W. Davis swears - That he was at Archibald Gilchrist's house at the time Emen Parker married Sarah Ann [McPherson; she married Emen Parker in 1839 at Archibald Gilchrist's home on Drowning Creek in Robeson County.]. That in a conversation had with the said Archd the morning after the wedding, he stated to deponent that he was glad the young Lady was married. That she had been a prudent good girl. That she had lived with him for a number of years; but that he did not intend to charge her for board, as he considered her labour for him equivalent to her board; and that he had heard said Gilchrist say nearly 12 months before the above time, that he did not intend to charge Sarah Ann McPherson any thing for Board, and that her services was with her board." 2. Blake Tyner
    3. For anyone interested in the Hubbards from Cumberland County I have set up a page on John Harold Hubbard (first one in NC) and a page on his wife Mary Ann Talbot. My wife has taken his line back 9 generations(all that is in FamilyTree Maker currently) and her line goes back 31 generations. I hope this helps anyone working on this family. My wife has joined several organizations using this documentation: National Society Daughters of Founders and Patriots of America; National Society Sons and Daughters of the Pilgrims; National Society Magna Charta Dames; National Society Women Descendants Ancient & Honorable Artillery Co.; Order of Three Crusades 1096-1192 to name a few. If anyone would like more information please contact us. Blake Tyner ************************************ K.
