James b 1790/1800 3. Martha "Patsy" b 1790/1800 The above family appear on the 1810 Cumberland CO., NC. census. James GILBERT could be the son of JAMES GILBERT AND CEILY also on same census. EDITH____ GILBERT married second time (in Cumberland CO., NC in 1814) to JAMES RENFROW. The bondsman was DUSHEE SHAW. I believe that Edith was James Renfrow's 2nd wife. James Renfrow appears on the 1800 and 1810 Cumberland CO., NC census but with his first family. JAMES RENFROW AND EDITH had the following known children. 1. James and 2. Rebecca There was a JOSEPH RENFRO who was killed by Indians (ca.1780) at the Cumberland Settlement (Nashville, TN) who was married to OLIVE. Olive then married a SHAW. How was the above DUSHEE SHAW (bondsman) related to the other many Shaw's at that time in Cumberland CO., NC? Did OLIVE___RENFRO, SHAW marry a Shaw from the Cumberland CO., NC Shaw's? EDITH___,GILBERT, RENFROW married a 3rd time to a MR. SWINDLE. I believe the EDE SWINDLE head of house hold on the 1830 White CO., TN is my Edith. Edith was in Lincoln CO., TN with her son James F. Renfrow on the 1840 and 50 census. On the 1850 census she had no last name but on the 1860 Lincoln CO., TN census she is still living with her son but she now has a last name of SWINDLE. This is the name on her head stone. Her daughter REBECCA RENFROW married JAMES WRIGHT b 1818, NC. Rebecca and James where married lived and died in Lincoln CO., TN. They where my great grandparents.
