To relieve your boredom: # 23 and #758 Anything on Charles McGregor or Charles MacGregor prior to the Revolutionary War? There are many stories of why Charles changed his last name to Bannerman (a cousin's name) and went inland to Sampson County. One story says a warrant was issued for his arrest by the Crown. Piracy was a thriving business of the time. Billie in Texas, still working on Shaw, McCraney, Faison, MacGregor, Bannerman, Player, Robinson and Lamb in North Carolina

Billie, I notice you are "still working on SHAW, McCRANEY,..." My ancestor, Malcom SHAW, migrated from Cumberland Co., NC to Haywood Co., TN about 1835. In the 1850 Haywood Co., TN census, Malcom's household includes an older McCRANEY woman. Do you have any connection between the SHAWs and the McCRANEYs? The census lists Malcom's wife as Margaret, but I know that she is a second (or third) wife and not the mother of his children, Mary Ann, Neil, Dushee, Daniel and Malcom. Best wishes, Cora [email protected] ----- Original Message ----- From: Billie Powell <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, January 25, 2007 4:30 PM Subject: [NCCUMBER] Charles MacGregor > To relieve your boredom: > > # 23 and #758 > > Anything on Charles McGregor or Charles MacGregor prior to the Revolutionary War?
