I have been to the Cumberland county Register of Deeds office many times over the years. The procedure now is to look up the birth, death, marriage, etc. record in the index, get the file number, then go to the vault room, get a computer card and then use the computer to print out the record you need. When I was there last April, they required that you hand over your car keys to get the computer card. Keys are returned when you return the card and pay for copies printed.
