    1. Re: NCCUMBER-D Digest V05 #5 Confederate Home
    2. Fay: There was a Confederate Home here in Fayetteville. It was located on Ft. Bragg Rd. It is gone now. There are two cemeteries behind where the home once stood. One is for the Gee Family (my ancestors) and another is for the ladies who lived in the home. I do not know where any of their records are now. I would suggest contacting the NC State Archives and seeing if they know anything about them. Terry Sanford High School now has a parking lot and ball field where the home used to be. Diane Fanning Fayetteville, NC Can anyone give me any information about a OLD CONFEDERATE HOME that was located in Fayetteville?

    3. Can anyone give me any information about a OLD CONFEDERATE HOME that was located in Fayetteville? As I understand it, the home was for widowed wives of Confederate Soldiers. Not sure about that. I'd like to find out more information about the Home. Where it was located, if there are any records of who lived there, etc. Thanks, Fay

    3. Saw this query and thought if anyone does have the book, maybe they could also do a look up for me. My great-great-grandfather's brother is believed to have died in about 1863 while serving in the Confederate Army. Would appreciate your time. Thanks. Jackie Morgan alfred hudson <abhudson@bellsouth.net> wrote: Would anyone have access to the book "Death of Soldiers from the Fayetteville Observer 1861 to 1864" by Irene and Tillman Smith ? I am searching for records or an obituary of my gggrandfather William E. Smith of Cumberland and New Hanover counties. William E. Smith was born in Cumberland County in 1828 and died while serving in a Cumberland County Confederate Army unit in Wilmington, NC on January 14, 1864. Maybe the book above contains his obituary and the name of his parents. I have struck a major roadblock in this family search. Any help or leads will be greatly appreciated.
