    3. Someone kindly provided this abstract of the will of Joseph JAMES of Duplin County. I am seeking to round out family information and would like correspond with anyone having knowledge of Joseph (who were his parents?), his wife Elizabeth (what was her maiden name?) and any of the children. I am particularly interested in learning the name of Rachel JAMES's spouse. Thanks for any information. ______________________________________ -Joseph JAMES will proved Jan 1782 Wife, Elizabeth Dau: Elizabeth SUTTON; May SINGLETON; Rebekah MOORE; Margaret JAMES; Rachel JAMES Son: Elias Son: Charles

    3. I know Jason well. He's the Bladen County list owner and we'll be spending a lot of time with him in Elizabethtown this Spring working on organizing records. Get going on your lines and check out the few hundred new books on the website. I'll be here when you're ready. 3. Fran, I didn't send it to you but I know that it comes from the book "Bladen County, North Carolina Abstracts of Early Deeds 1738-1804" by Holcomb. It is on page 50 of my copy of this book. I HIGHLY recommend this book of abstracted Bladen County deeds to researchers of early Bladen County. Not all deeds were destroyed in the 3 fires that consumed Bladen's deeds over a 130 year period. Also, if you're looking for early tax lists for Bladen, try to find Vol 1 and/or 2 of Byrd's "Bladen County North Carolina Tax Lists"; the first volume is 1768 - 1774 and the second volume is 1775-1789. The originals were found at Duke buried in a private collection. Byrd transcribed them, I understand, and produced the 2 volumes. These lists give us an incredible view of families and their immediate neighbors for 23 years. I've found so much info from these two books. The first volume is almost impossibly hard to find to purchase but you can find the second volume online to buy. 1. Re: [NCCUMBER] Edney/Edna West Lee
    2. Fran, Go to www.worldconnect.rootsweb.com for info on burial. There is enough info to get you cemetery data. Maybe you can find more which will help you locate obituary/estate records. Search more at same site for possible sources under her father's name. Father's name is less common than Edna. You will see notes that her husband Obed(iah) was also called Abel. Famiy migration and descendants could also help. If Edney is the correct first name, you may find that her family church had Samuel EDNEY as pastor. Many families have "adopted" the names of their circuit riding pastor. Francis ASBURY was another pastor whose name also became popular during this time. Most of entries do not give specific documentation so I have not included here. There are notes for LDS films. Sue (EDNEY researcher)

    3. Family lengend tells that Edna/Edney West LEE lived to be age 103. I am trying to verify this information. Here is what I can prove with census that unfortunately are all to often inaccurate: Obed Lee and family found Johnston Co., NC 1820 and 1830; Cumberland Co., NC 1840. In 1840 both Obed and wife Edna were age 50-60 making their birth years 1780-1790. Edney LEE 1850 Cumberland Co., NC age 55 living in household of Abel LEE, 66. According to this census Edney was born 1795. Who was Abel LEE? Will LEE researchers provide some information? Thanks.
