Hi I am working on the line of benjamin Morrison who Married Dicey blanchard on 10 March 1825 in Cumberland Co NC. Their son Alexander is my direct line and I am trying to prove the line . Can either one of you help me with this proof? LIBRARY OF CONGRESS TO DIGITIZE GENEALOGY BOOKS The Library of Congress just announced that it has received 2 million from the Alfred P. Sloan foundation to digitize thousands of books. Among those to be digitized are "U.S. genealogy and regimental histories. The former includes many useful county, state, and regional histories, while the latter includes histories, memoirs, diaries and other collections from the Civil War period." Yes, the family you noted in the 1850 Cumberland County census is that of Charles Gillis Wilson and Margaret (McCraney) Wilson. The census shows the family living in the Western part, however the oldest child, Daniel James Wilson wrote that he was born in Fayetteville. 1850 census also shows Margaret's father, Neill McCraney in the Western section. My g g grandfather was Edward King Branch - born in 1812 - Cumberland county N.C. Married Tabitha Johnson - they moved to Benton Co. Tenn in the l850s and then to Murfreesboro Arkansas where he died in 1896. My G Grandmother told my father that when they left Noth Carolina she had a one armed brother that stayed in Cumberland Co. They might have the books. I ordered them from the Cumberland Co. site, Myrtle Bridges is over that. We found them at the Archives of course. They h Have really been a help to me with the McDonald lines. We also have Newberry, Matthews, Gilmore.They are all married into the Thomas Matthews and wife, Mary. Many, many other names,all listed in Abstracts of Deeds of Cumberland Co. We don't know Mary's maiden name. Probably won't ever know. Sincerely, Ruth M.
