One first name would be Angus. This is an old Bladen county name. In about 1964-65 (remembering) some of this family held a sit in at the gates to Fort Bragg claiming their relative old Angus was not paid for land that now is part of Fort Bragg. I don't know when he lived. I do know that I thought this was crazy for a family to try to get money out of the government for somet hing a long dead uncle owned. I do know that they did get a settlement as one very distant relative of old Angus got $312. Many years later I found that my husbands line was in Bladen county and he did not get a nickel.(grin) His closest grandfather left Bladen in the 1780's. It just would be fun to know where the land was. Kay Russ Andress

**************************************
Check out free AOL at http://free.aol.com/thenewaol/index.adp. 3. Dear Cora Thank you so much for the look up on my Renfrow's. I do believe that my James Renfrow was related to the Renfrows that went by flotilla to Nashboro durning the 1780's. Many where killed by Indians. Joseph Renfrow was killed and left a widow who later became known as Olive Shaw in legal papers. Olive and Joseph Renfrow where to have had 3 children. A John, Polly and ? Many researchers to do know the name or sex of the 3rd child. I do known that Polly Renfrow later married into my Brown line. There was a law suit (Cumberland Settlement Nashboro) where a James Renfrow and Olive Shaw where involved in. This may be my James Renfrow who may have gone back to VA and then was buying land on the Black River in what was then Cumberland CO., NC. by 1801 I have many deeds of James Renfrow and some probate records for James Gilbert who was Edith___,Gilbert, Renfrow, Swindle father in law. All these Gilberts, Browns, Shaws and Jones & Pylants of Wake and Cumberland CO., NC are all intermingaled with their names appearing on each other's legal doc. I have another post for the Cumberland CO., NC list but I have to get my papers together first. It has to do with William Utley and Isham Uttley who witness a will for William Speight in Wake CO., NC. William Speight was the father of Winnifred Speight Jones. She married Jesse Jone of Wake CO., NC. My Edith____,Gilbert, Renfrow, Swindle could be a link of this Jones family. These people kept going across he Wake and Cumberland CO. lines. Thank you again, it was so sweet of you to try and help me. I will keep what you sent me in my file for I have found that every little bit leads to another bit that links chains together. 3. Thank you for sharing your records. Do you have records for Surrell Mobley or Middleton Mobley?

I have some info on Charles O'NEILL/O'NEAL but wonder if you have any deed that shows disposal of his lands and his subsequent move to Bladen? I don't know just when that occurred but before 1820. Is there a WEST/O'NEAL deed? Thanks very much. > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > NCCUMBER-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the > quotes in the subject and the body of the message >

    2. Ruth I am interested in the name Anders/Andress/Anderson and sometimes Andrews.

She married my grandfather Lonnie Carter born 1 Sept. 1895. They married in Stedman, NC in 1916. My ggrandfather was John E. Hubbard, also called "Coolidge", he was born 1 Oct. 1867. He married my ggrandmother Marry Ellen Bunce who was born 2 Sept 1869. My question is, was John Harold Hubbard, born 25 December 1834 in Portland Maine, John E. Hubbards father? I would like to make the connection. If he was then, his 3rd wife Mary Talbot would be my gggrandmother. Thanks to the website of John Harold Hubbard and Mary Talbot I can trace back many generations. Thank You, Vance Carter from Connecticut
