Wonder if your Norman Mc LEOD was related to Christian McLEOD, born about 1742 in NC. She married Angus CURRY/CURRIE and might have resided in Cumberland County and later.Richmond County NC. I am seeking information regarding her ancestors and siblings. Suggestions about where to search are appreciated. Elaine, I don't know of your Angus Galbraith,- [ My Cumberland Co Ancestors are POWELL-b.1850s and COLLIER/ NIXON-b.1860s and they came to central Florida -where I was born- in 1870s-1890s.] HOWEVER, There has been a GALBRAITH/ GALBERAITH family in Polk County FL [my home] since late 1800s at least. ...I believe they "reunion" regularly. Could this be where your Angus went? If you are interested, I can put you in touch with one of the elders of that tribe, though not by Email. Snail mail maybe.? Regards, Steph Powell Cecil [email protected]
John, you wrote: "I have been searching the counties of eastern North Carolina for a link to my ancestor who I believe is Norman McLeod. Norman was a common name, but he had a son from whom I was descended named George Washington McLeod, who was born in 1820, not sure where. Besides GW, other children were Daniel, Roderick, Jacob, Agnes Ann, James Thadeus, Hariette Matilda, Robert Cade, and Norman E." As you said, Norman is apparently a common name in the McLEOD family, but there is a Norman McLEOD from North Carolina with some common threads to our LESLIE line in Macon/Pike Cos., AL, who were also from NC. John LESLIE was born 1816 in Fayetteville Dist., NC. I also noticed one of the siblings of your George Washington McLEOD was named Robert Cade and we also have CADE in our family there. Do you know if any of your McLEODs migrated to this area of AL? If you think there might be some connection here, I will provide whatever information I can on the McLEOD neighbors. I'm looking for information on Angus B GALBRAITH/GALBREATH/CULBRETH, etc., born about 1854, probably Cumberland Co, to Neill Galbreath & Margaret McNeill. Margaret died in 1855. In 1860, Angus and his father appear on a farm with probable siblings of Neill. Angus is found in 1870 and 1880 in Lumber Bridge, Robeson Co, in the household of his Aunt Margaret and others, who appear to be siblings of hers I could not locate Neill after 1860 or Angus after 1880. Does anyone have any information on either of them? Angus was the only child of a sister of my great grandfather and I would dearly love to complete this line. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Elaine in DE

I have two lines of SMITHS that I am just beginning to track down. I saved these for last (along with 2 lines of PHILLIPS/PHILIPS and TAYLOR) since they such a common names. One of these SMITHs, is my GGgrandmother NANCY ANN SMITH-CAPPS, b. Johnston County NC, mid 1830s; married WILLIAM HENRY CAPPS and died in Cumberland County, NC; and buried at GALATIA Presbyterian Church. I beleive she may be connected to the WILLIAM WRIGHT SMITH line somehow. No proof -but one of her sons was WILLIAM WRIGHT WASHINGTON CAPPS. (I descend through their son DAVID GEORGE CAPPS who married ANN E. TAYLOR of Cumberland County.) I have seen in the LDS files that her mother was Charlotte WEAVER, and father was NOEL but no further info or any proof was provided. Another GGG...was Jennie "Bahn" SMITH, which is known Scottish heritage, and I presume a totally different line, stemming from the Cumberland/Moore/Harnett areas. Thank you. have a wonderful day!
