From "Bladen County, North Carolina Abstracts of Early Deeds 1738-1804" by Holcomb (you can order it online, do a google search for the name of the book and author): "5 March 1803, Baley Sutton of Sampson Co., N.C. to Joshua Johnson of Duplin Co., for 600 silver dollars...land between the Lake Bay and Harrison Creek Swamp, 640 A granted to Margaret Johnson 17 Sept 1794, and other tracts ... I would like to exchange information with you about Hudlin/Hudling/Hudnal Huffum/Hufham. I have found several other spellings of the name. There is a will dated 15 Mar 1790 in Bladen Co. This is a response to Betty Lee Streckfuss. Betty, if you need a copy of this petition, it would be helpful if you knew the year that it was recorded and go to the General Assembly Records at the NC Archives. These are in fiberboard boxes with folders that have broad divisions such as petitions, war records, etc. There are so many of these that without more specific information it would be very time consuming to pour through all of them until you hit the right one. I'm not sure if there is any kind of index that would speed this up or not, but that may be why you haven't received a reply for your request. If the library doesn't have a copy of this, a private researcher may be your best bet. Good Luck. 1786 Sampson County, William HAIR and Willis WEST were involved in a lawsuit with William HAIR being the plaintiff. In the court record that I have, the case is described as "Genl Issue". I would like to correspond with anyone having knowledge of this case. I am not researching the HAIR family and have no information on William HAIR other than the above statement. Thanks.

Hi Burline I can send it email, then you can just load it into FTM. FTM is free online from their website. They have a premium edition for download that if not free, but the basic is free and it is good. I will also print mine if you want to reenter it all, but it would be much easier for you by email. My old computer just died - I hooked it to a new printer - it went black, just like the battery died, even though it was plugged in. I left it alone for about a week - it came back on - I grabbed my files and emailed them to myself - then it died again. I was so glad that it came up for those few minutes. I was able to get my files from the email to myself from another computer and save it - then re-install it in FTW. There's alot of tricks to salvage computer files - don't give up! Merry Christmas, Pat
When the lighting hit my computer it just died, took it to Best Buy, the Geek Squad there were able to get all my files copy off my hard drive for me, it cost me around a $100 thought, but was worth it. Helen

Somehow I lost contact with you. I could not reach you with the E-mail address I had. StorkRN92. I still have it in my address book. I didn't loose my e-mails. AOL still had it. I was surprised. After all I do not know much about computers. I think I had you & Leah Beard confushed. We are close relatives. If I am not mistaken I think my moms 2nd or 3rd cousin Annie Bell Beard Jackson in Linden knows you. I have met so many of the Beard & Melvin families, that it is hard to keep it straight. That is another reason I need my Family Tree on my computer. I would really appreciate any help I can get. I have not installed my Family Tree yet. AOL told me to wait & see if my Tree could be saved. My son-in-law is supposed to try & see if he can get it. If you could mail me I'll be glad to pay all expenses. I mean all. It would be such a blessing. Because I am really sick, that I seem to have lost it. I just hope my son-in-law can save it. He has my old computer. I had a mom and pop computer store so they got all the information. If you have something like the "Geek Squad" around you they may be able to do it for a fee.
