Query Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/Chowan?read=744 Surname: HOBBS, CULLINS, CULLENS, CULLEN, CULLIN, HURDLE, FIELD, FIELDS, COX, HICKS, HARISON, HARRISON ------------------------- The Rachel CULLINS HOBBS you mentioned in your marriages list is my great great grandmother although William HOBBS is not my great great grandfather. After William's death, Rachel married as her 2nd husband, Aaron HOBBS, a cousin of William and a son of John and Sarah HOBBS. Do you have any more information on William and Rachel's children or Rachel and Aaron's children? I posted the following query at the Gates County North Carolina web site and would like to post it here also. =================== I'm still looking for HOBBS information. See below John and Sarah HOBBS-Child: Aaron HOBBS 1st married Emily (? What was Emily's maiden name?), 2nd married Rachel (CULLINS/CULLENS/CULLIN/CULLEN) HOBBS, widow of William HOBBS, son of Guy HOBBS and cousin of Aaron HOBBS. I have information on the ancestors of Rachel. Childred of Aaron HOBBS and William HOBBS (I haven't separated them by father as they are all brothers and sisters or step brothers and sisters to each other: Emily HOBBS married Mills or Miles R.FIELD(S)(Who were Mills or Miles parents?) Isaac HOBBS married Betsey HURDLE (Was her actual name Elizabeth? Who were her parents?) David HOBBS (Who did David marry?) Ira T. HOBBS married Catherine HICKS(Who were Catherine parents?) William HOBBS (Who did William marry?) Christiana "Kitty" HOBBS married Thomas TROTMAN(I have information on TROTMAN ancestry.) Jacob Cullins HOBBS married Sarah H. HARRISON Elizabeth "Betsey" HOBBS never married Nancey HOBBS married Jesse COX as his second wife.(I have information on the first marriage and ancestry of Jesse Cox) Rachel CULLINS HOBBS married Jonathan HARRISON/HARISON as her third husband. Who was his first wife? Who were his parents? Jonathan's children by his first marriage were Sarah (married Jacob C. HOBBS), Elizabeth (Married Solomon BUSH), Matilda (married Robert H. CROSBY.) and Richard. Who did Richard marry? (He was probably married in Georgia.) I'm still confused on the ancestors of John HOBBS, father of Aaron. Which John HOBBS was he and whom were his parents? There is a John Hobbs b. about 1696 and a John Hobbs born about 1715. I have seen both of them listed as married to Sarah and as Aaron's father. I've seen both Thomas I, Thomas II, and Amos I as these John's parents. Who were Thomas I's parents? I've seen Abraham I and Abraham II listed. Then who were Thomas II's parents and Amos I's parents? I have Betty Smith Hobbs's book on this family and Volume I and Volume II of Ralph L. Hobbs's books on the Hobbs and Related Lines. There are several different tree versions in Ralph's books and some other differences in Betty's book. Does any one have a right answer? Rachel CULLINS HOBBS HARRISON, Jonathan HARRISON, Sarah HARRISON, Jacob Cullins HOBBS, Ira T. HOBBS, Betsey HOBBS, Christianna HOBBS TROTMAN, and Nancey HOBBS COX were all in Georgia by about 1820, as well as the HARRISON children. Ira T., Jacob Cullins, and Christianna all were married in Georgia. Isaac was married in Gates Co., North Carolina. Did William Hobbs, son of Rachel and William Hobbs move to Georgia? There is a William Hobbs listed in Jones Co., Georgia in about 1820 when this combined family also moved to Jones Co., Georgia. Ira T. Hobbs probably died in Webster Co., Georgia some time after the 1870 census in which he is living with a son Jesse/Jessie and wife Catherine or Carrie J. HOBBS. Living next door is my great grandfather, Jacob Cullins HOBBS. Ira T.'s wife Catherine HICKS appears to have died between the 1850 census when they are found in Stewart Co., Georgia and the 1860 census of Webster Co., Georgia where Ira is found living next door to Jessie C. or G. HOBBS. Who were the other children of Ira T. and Catherine HOBBS? When Aaron first died, about 1808, Mills/Miles R. FIELD(s) was made a guardian of the orphaned HOBBS children. Jonathan HARRISON was also their guardian and is responsible for moving them to Georgia. Is anyone else researching these branches of these families? Any help would be appreciated.
