Dear Group, I am writing to inquirer if anyone may know where in Chowan County I may search for further information on slaves familes that were in Chowan County from the earlier 1800's - 1900's? I have been in contact with the Chowan County Court House and at this point I feel like I have hit a brick wall. Would the Libraries have any information on slave families? Are there any African American Historical society in Chowan? Are there any other resources in Chowan Co. that anyone may be able to direct me to that may have information on slave families. I would also be very interested inhearing from other person that have been researching their slave roots in the Chowan County area, Thank you for any assistance or advise you may be able to share.
