I am new to the list and looking for information on my John Berry from Hyde County, NC. This is what I have so far. John Berry was born in 1810, he was married and had 2 sons that I am sure of. William Benjamin born in 1833 and Benjamin born in 1835. There could also be a son Richard born 1838 and Reuben born in 1840. Who was John's wife? Going by the Hyde County Census of 1850 and working backwards I believe that John's father was William Berry, born 1788 who married Nancy Sirman and had children Reuben, John, Rachel, and Lavinia. I believe that William Berry's father was William born circa 1749 and married to Sarah Green daughter of David Green. The first William was noted in Hyde County in 1786 and I am not sure where they came from. Could have been from Virginia. Another twist is that I have been told that there is Native American ancestry in the family and I am very interested in this. Thank you everyone.
