    1. Boon
    2. I have posted this query in one form or another on several sites over the last three or four years with no results. But there is always the chance that a newcomer will know something. So, here goes again. I, and members of my extended family, have been trying to identify the parents of my ggggrandfather, Bryant Boon. We know a fairly substantial amount about him after he left North Carolina and went to Tennessee and then Kentucky. He is buried in Graves County, Kentucky and his marker indicates that he was born in Hertford County NC in 1789. He appeared in the 1810 census for Hertford County, along with three white females who, judging by their ages. were his mother, wife and daughter. The mother may have been a Hare. During his subsequent moves there was always a Luke Hare acquiring and disposing of land nearby. There is nothing in Hertford County records. Two courthouse fires have taken care of that. I live in Texas but have been to the courthouse and library in Winton, the library in Murfreesboro, the library in Jackson, the Olivia Raney Local History Library in Raleigh and the state archives in Raleigh where I examined every item in the seven or so boxes of Hertford County items that they have. Nothing! Since Hertford owes its existence to Bertie, Chowan and Northampton counties, I have hopes that someone in one or more of those counties has old family records that might mention Bryant Boon. It has been surmised that the family may have moved down from the Isle of Wight, Virginia area. Some of my cousins think that his father may have been a James Boon, whose wife was a Mary Hare. Would love to hear from anyone with ANY data that could throw light on Bryant Boon's antecedents. Many thanks. Elladean in Houston
