-- I have created a web page for Marriage Bond Index of NC 1741-1868 marriagebondofNC http://marriagebondofnc.homestead.com/Home.html This page is not complete and will not be complete for several months. There are over 8,000 Bride and 8,000 Groom microfilm pages that list all marriage bonds for all counties of NC. I will add new surnames weekly so please don't get discouraged if you do not see the surname you are looking for. I have discovered that once you obtain the Index page that you are looking for it is easier to contact the NC Archives and get a copy of the original Marriage Bond. If you would like a specific Surname added to the page you may send me an e-mail and I will put that name on my list to add ASAP. All I ask is that you send one e-mail per Surname. You may send as many Surnames as you like, but please do so separately so that I may easily alphabetize my list that I take with me. In the Subject area put MB of NC (this will get my attention) In the body of the e-mail type the surname you would like added in ALL CAPS. Best of Luck to you all in your search for your ancestors. Hi to Chowan County listers, While I am not new to genealogy research, I am new to looking in Chowan county. I am hoping that someone else who reads this message may know of or be connected to my family lines. Here goes: Anne Grey COX was born abt 1812 in Edenton. She married Dr. Willie Jones EPPES in Chowan County 26 May 1835. I am her gr-gr-gr-granddaughter. She was the daughter of John Cox (???-Nov 1856) and Eleanor Grey Blount (1792-1817). Elenor Blount was born in Edenton; I am not sure of where John Cox was born, but I believe it may have also been Edenton, as his will was filed there. They were married 28 Dec 1815. John Cox then married Ann Booth Clark in 1820. I know nothing of other children, other than Anne. Eleanor was the daughter of Joseph Blount (1755-1794) and Anne Grey (1758-1814). Anne Grey was born in Bertie Co.--the dtr. of William Grey and Frances Lee. I do not know where in NC the Blount family was from. I really appreciate any leads or ideas on filling in the missing pieces of this part of my family. THANK YOU ! Kyleen Gavin Citrus CO., FL

Hello, I need some input. Recently I posted a request for help to the list. I have been able, through subsequent research to refine my needs. I am a graduate student attending East Carolina University. Currently a group of us are researching a slave narrative written by one Allen Parker. He was owned by Peter Parker and his wife Elizabeth Skinner Parker. They lived in Chowan county. Peter bought land of his deceased father-in-law Henry Skinner in Perquimans county. Peter and two of his young children die in 1839 leaving his estate to be administered by his brother-in law James C. Skinner of Perquimans county. He had one very young daughter still living Annie Felicia. He left the slave Allen Parker to Annie in his will. I think, from my research that the Parker plantation was in the Ballards Bridge area of Chowan county, close to smalls crossroads. In 1850 it consisted of 300 acres or so. Elizabeth married Jonathan White abt.1846-7. She and Annie moved to Perquimans county to live on the Parker Plantation which Jonathan bought. As Allen got older he was hired out to various people in the Area. The names were...JACOB PARKER, ELISHA BURK, JOHN COFFIELD, _____ SMALL, DARIUS WHITE, GEORGE WILLIAMS. His father was owned by a WILLIAM ELLIOT and went by the name of JEFF ELLIOT. Allen says the ELLIOT plantation was about 10 miles from the PARKER plantation. I am in the process of collecting histories, stories of the people and the area, and mapping the neighborhood in which Allen Parker lived. Any help with these families..names would be appreciated. Oh..I am talking of the ante-bellum period...1800-1860. Thankyou, Theresa

D. 4 Jul 1846 Trigg Co, Ky. married Ebenezer BOYD b. 18 Dec 1797 N.C d. Apr 1874 Trigg Co, Ky. 4 Oct 1819 Christian Co, Ky. In the early records of Caldwell Co, Ky. a William R. SPARKMAN was mentioned. I feel like Mary" Polly" SPARKMAN and William R. SPARKMAN were related. With William having a middle initial R., it makes me think he was connected to the SPARKMAN family of Chowan Co, N.C. Any thooughts appreciated.

Posted on: Chowan County NC. Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/Chowan/825 Surname: Chambers, Smith, Jones, Liles ------------------------- I am looking for information on Samuel Chambers from Chowan Co. His estate papers list his wife as Temperance Jones Chambers. Henry Smith is the adminstrator of his estate.Samuel married Temperance in 1833 and they had a daugher, Penelope, in 1835.Samuel died in 1837 and Temperance married Alfred Smith in 1838, they had a daughter, Adaline in 1839 or 40. I believe that Henry Smith was married to Samuel's daughter by a first marriage,Caroline Chambers in 1834, and they had 2 sons. Henry married again in 1839 so Caroline must have died.Henry married Martha Liles in 1839. Henry died before 1850. Martha is listed in the 1850 census as head of household with 5 boys, 2 of which were born before 1839. Penelope marrried Wm.Blount and Adaline married West R. Leary. Both died at an early age. Temperance Smith married Jerimiah Floyd after Alfred Smith died about 1845. If anyone can add to this info I would appreciate it.
