I am looking for the father of Isaac Perry. Isaac was married to Charlotte Hughes in 1799. Isaac lived in Bertie County. Do you know Abraham's other children?
Hello Linda, No, I don't know anything about him. We have a Benjamin Perry in the family [Chowan Co.], and copied this deed at the Archives to see if we could tie him to our family. grace
Grace, I am looking for the father of Issaac Perry from Bertie County. Word of mouth says it may have been a Benjamin Perry. The location is close! Do you know your Benjamin's sons? Thanks, Linda

I'm very interested in the information you may have on Luke White. I found (and posted) the will of Luke White last summer. He mentions the same people you have mentioned. Only, this Luke seems to be Senior, as there is a son Luke mentioned in the will.

HI, I read an earlier message regarding Hollowells in Chowan County and I'm wondering if anyone "knows" mine?? I'm looking for any information on Jordan Hollowell married to Mary and father to Georgia Anna Hollowell. Unfortunately, I dont have any birth or death dates on Jordan or his wife Mary, nor do I have any info on his parents. The other Hollowell I am looking for is Abner Hollowell (wife unknown), father of Temperance Hollowell married to Josiah Byrum. Are there connections here for anyone ? Susan in MA
Hello Cathy, I appreciate your help....Yes, Luke Hollowell and Elizabeth Forehand were the parents of my grandmother's father. Joel Hollowell, Abner, and Noah also referenced are also from the same family. I have come along way on the Hollowell's some due in part to Vikki Hollowell Highfield. I have visted her website many times and corresponded by email. I now have the links all the way back to the Hollowell's in England. Thanks again.
My name is Richard C. Copeland, Jr. I was born in Chowan County, now living in Greenwood, SC. I am seeking information on my family. I have learned that my greatgrandfather was Andrew Copeland, born around 1842. He married Anna Mariah Jordan 10/18/1860. They had nine children: Many Jane (b - 1861), Esther (b-1863), Machdonia (b-1866), Warren J (b-1868), Sarah C (b-1872), Eli A (b-1875), Alexander (b-1877) and George D (b-after 1877). My grandfather was Alexander L. Copeland . He married Katie Dalphine Byrum Feb 9, 1899. They had two children, Richard C (b-Feb 19, 1903/ d-Apr 17, 1971) and Lillian, My father, Richard married Blannie Reese Byrum (b-Jan 9, 1912/ d-May 19, 1948). I am interested in finding out who my great-great-father was and where he migreated from. Could Adrew be the son of Elisha, Willis or Josiah Copeland who were in Chowan County in the early 1800s. Also, did Andrew have any bother/sisters? Could he have been kin to Alexander, David, Elihue, Joseph, Phineas, Thomas, or Timother who were born about the same decade of Andrew? As to my grandfather Alexander, I am interested in finding out where his father and brothers migrater? I would appreciate any leads on any of the above persons. Thanks. Dick
Hi Dianne: I don't know how far you have gotten with your Hollowell research, as you may already have this information. In my notes I have a reference to a probable relative. I can't be certain where I came across it, but it shouldn't be hard to find. Elizabeth Forehand b. June 1833 d. aft 1900 Gates Co. NC married 22 July 1852 Chowan Co. NC LUKE HOLLOWELL. Could this Luke be an ancester to your Luke, and of course your grandmother? When I saw Luke Hollowell in your querry it rung a bell, so I checked my Forehand notes for more Hollowell connections and came across the following: Rachel Forehand b. ? d. ? m. 17 Feb 1795 Perquimans Co Joel Hollowell. 1802 Chowan Co. NC Bastardy Bonds Sept 1802 Mother Jude Asbill, three Bondsmen listed: Thomas Forehand, Luke Hollowell and Jacob Jordan Sr. Thomas Forehand and Miles Stallings testified Will of Abner Hollowell 17 Oct 1802 Chowan Co. Charlotte Forehand b. 15 Jan 1802 d. 1 Oct 1855 married 17 Sept 1821 Chowan Co. Noah Hollowell. John For[e]hand married 28 Jul 1841 Ann Dail. Witness: Daniel Hollowell. Thomas Forehand, [Sr.] b. ? d. ? married 6 Jan 1844 Chowan Co. Catherine Hollowell. Witnesses: John Forehand And T.T. Hathaway. There seems to be some history between our two families that spans at least 50 years. It might be worth checking out. Hope this helps. Cathy
HANNIBAL BADHAM, SR. (1845-1918), carpenter, black, b-Chowan. Badham was the son of MYLES BADHAM. A Myles Badham, perhaps Hanibal's father, was a slave (owned by JAMES C. JOHNSTON) who worked on the construction of Hayes [Plantation] in 1815-1817. Three sons of HANNIBAL BADHAM, SR. were also carpenters: HANNIBAL,JR. (1879-1941); MILES (1877-1925); WILLIAM (b.ca. 1871).

My great grandparents are Charles Byrum and Narcissus Bessie Haskett. I'm down through their daughter Ida Linora Byrum. Would welcome any information that you have.
Mary Wallis (married to Zachariah Webb) was a widow at their marriage. Wallis was her married name. I got this from North Carolina marriage bonds records. There is a good book about the Douglas family that mentions Zachariah and Mary's daughter, Elizabeth. It is called The Dougalss Genealogy, by Mary Lois Douglas Forrester, published in 1992 by the Genealogy Publishing Service. There are photos and copies of documents in the book. I obtained a copy several years ago. The DAR no longer accepts membership based on Alexander Douglass's service. They say the records connecting him as Frederick Douglasses father are too suspect, and do not prove him as the father with certainty (I was still able to join through my great grandma Douglas's family, just through her mother's mother--the Aldermans). Hi, I'm hoping someone may be able to shed some light on my great grandfather and his family. HIs name was Edward Benjamin Ward and he was married to Annie Beulah Byrum. He was born Nov. 4th, 1874 and died in a dynamite accident (he was a farmer and was removing a tree stump) when my grandmother was 7 years old in 1928. My grandmother does not know anything about his family except that he had a brother named Joseph and two sisters who may have lived in Chowan County. During his married life he lived in GAtes County (in or around Corapeake NC) but my grandmother believes that he may have originally been from Chowan County (which makes sense since she says his siblings lived there). Any help or info on Edward's parents or siblings would be so appreciated! Thanks, Susan in MA
