    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/EVB.2ACI/911.3 Message Board Post: You are correct that Silas#2& William were not yet 21 when their father Silas #1 died in 1796. Edward Welch was appointed their Guardian. Silas # 1 married Judah Wallace in 1791. She was not the mother of any of Silas #1's children. As you mentioned, she died in 1798 and her will list William & Absilla as inlaws. I agree they are step children. In 1805 William Petitioned the court for his inheritance, thus he must have been 21 in 1805. Silas # 2 married Elizabeth Hobbs 8/31/1808 in Chowan Cty. They had 10 children. One being Silas # 3. who married Mary Ann Byrum 4/13/1848. I hope this clears up the Silas White Question. However there are at least 2 more Silas White in later generations in Chowan County.

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/EVB.2ACI/915 Message Board Post: Looking for the parents of Sarah Jane Blanchard (b: abt 1831) and married Allen Spivey on 10 April 1850 in Chowan Co, NC. Since she married in 1850, I can't find a trail backwards since children weren't listed in earlier censuses. However, looking at the NC indices and the marriage records of Chowan county, I have determined (though not proven) that the Blanchards listed in the 1850 census in Chowan were from one family as follows: Father (????): William Blanchard m. Celia Hurdle on Nov 26, 1807 Children (????): Micajah Blanchard m. Eliz Walton on Feb 14, 1823 Josiah Blanchard m Sarah Hurdle on Jun 16, 1824 Reuben Blanchard m Mary H. Lyons on Jul 28, 1827 Micajah Blanchard m Leah Walton Oct 17, 1827 (2nd marriage ?????) Noah Blanchard m Mary Asbill on May 13, 1828 Grandchildren (????): Abner Blanchard m Mary Verdamin Dec 12, 1838 Eastern Blanchard m Absala White Oct 9, 1841 Jesse Blanchard m Eliz A. Blanchard Dec 17, 1841 I believe Sarah Jane Blanchard was the granddaughter of William since she was born abt 1831 and believe she was daughter of any of the sons: Micajah, Josiah, Reuben, Noah. Does anyone have any info on this Chowan line??? Thanks, Judy

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/EVB.2ACI/911.2 Message Board Post: I also have the mother of Christain Hollowell as Christain Stallings, daughter of Elias, thus the possible link to Nicholos Stallings. I know that Silas and Christain were in Perquimans but isn't it a possiblity that they moved to Chowan since many of their descendants are found in Chowan.? I am a direct descendant of Henry L. White and Penniah Boyce. Their daughter, Emily White, was my g-grandmother. As for the wives of Luke Hollowell, I found that info on the website of Vicki Hollowell Highfield. Luke can be found at: http://www.geocities.com/heartland/ridge/3462/generation5b.html According to Vicki, she has been researching the Hollowell family for 30 years and she lists her sources. However, as for Luke's 1st wife (name unknown), I don't remember seeing a source other than I noticed that his first 2 or 3 children were born before 1795, the year he married Phoebe Byrum. I am just trying to find if there is anyone who has found any information that will prove my theory that the Silas married to Christain is also the one who later married Judah. I know they were married in 1791 and he died abt 1797 and she(Judah) in 1798. I have a copy of both their wills. Surely if the children were theirs they would be young enough to have a guardian appointed for them. And Judah would have mentioned them in her will I would think. Has anyone found any records of this?

Surnames: Hobbs, Hollowell Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/EVB.2ACI/911.1 Message Board Post: I concurr with the Hollowell information that you have posted. I would like to comment on two things though. Christian Hollowell's mother was Christian Stallings. Her parents were Elias Stallings and Christian ?? You also state that Luke Hollowell's second wife was a Byrum. It was actually Phoebe Byrum and the were married in 1795 in Chowan County. However you state that this is Luke's second wife. Who was the first? Now to the confusion of the Silas's...... Silas White married Elizabeth Forehand Hobbs on 8/31/1808 in Chowan County. She is the daughter of Moses Hobbs and Emily (Miley Walton) who is a brother to my direct line (Jesse Hobbs). Silas and Elizabeth had: Christian, Jacob, John, Jordan W, Mary J., Moses W., Silas (marring Mary Ann Byrum), Henry L., Elizabeth, and Charity. AS far as I have discovered on the Silas that married Christian Hollowell is that they were married abt. 1766 in Perquimans County. Christian being the daughter of John and Christian Stallings. I entertwine with the Hobbs and Hollowells MANY times over.
