Hi folks, I went back to Cherokee Co. in September with my mom. It was a first time visit there for both of us. My mom's dad and his father were born in Culberson. Both of them were born on the property next to the Shady Grove Baptist Church. It was deja vu seeing all the names I have run across doing my genealogy. We visited with our Arp relatives who live outside of Murphy and visited Murphy to see the Courthouse and Historical Museum. If you go there be sure and stop to eat at "Shoe Booties Resturant". We sure enjoyed our visit there and hope to get there from Seattle again real soon. We met lots of nice friendly people there. Some of our family names from around Cherokee Co. are: Arp, Ballew, Standridge, Kimsey, Shields, Culberson, Keith, Kisselburg, Anderson, Watson, Gilreath and Hyde. Brian Lord
