    1. [NCCHEROK] Peachtree - was Re: Need Phone Book Look-up

    3. Peachtree is a wonderful little wide spot in the road. We buried Ron's father there last spring. I've lost track of how many generations of his family have found their final resting place there. One of those places where the population of dead exceeds the living. In fact, they went with a commercial cemetery since the church was already full. First person in either of our families not buried in a family or church cemetery - very weird to us anyway. Residents depend on Murphy for grocieries, postal service and such. But it is getting on towards Clay County. Overall, there is a lot of bleed over between the county families and county/state lines. Georgia is flatter and easier to farm and Tenn has the copper mines with jobs. The County seat is unique in that it is closer to the state capitals of SEVEN states that it is to its own capital of Raleigh. Believe it or not, when Jimmy Carter was Governor, Georgia actually tried to claim part of Cherokee county as their own. But Peachtree isn't completely uncivilized, they do have an excellent school and churches. For those of you who have never been home to Cherokee County, I hope you have the chance to visit someday. Beautiful place. Joyce S wrote: > > Not sure if that would be correct or not, but I do know > where Peachtree is.
