Hi Diann - the basic book on genealogy which has been most helpful to me is "The Researcher's Guide to American Genealogy" by Val D. Greenwood. I have the 2nd edition but it has probably been updated since that was published 1990. I have just ordered but haven't received "Cherokee by Blood" by Tony McClure, as I am trying to verify my Cherokee ancestry through the Munday/Mundy family and the Payne family from Cherokee County. I hear it's a great source. Have a great day.
