He was born sometime around 1815-1825, was the son of Charles Stiles. He was born in Benton County, North Carolina or Persimmon Creek, Cherokee Co., N.C. He married Telethia Conley. Charles Middleton Stiles was a member of the legislature according to a letter written by my greatgrandmother. Telethia Conley married Charles Middleton Stiles on April 14, 1841 in Macon, North Carolina. They had at least two children: my 2greatgrandfather, Joseph Lafayette Stiles who was born on Persimmon Creek, Cherokee Co. N.C. on May 7, 1842. He died in Fort Smith, Arkansas in 1904. Charles Middleton's father, we have been told was Charley Stiles, who was a Baptist preacher and died in Memphis, Tennessee on his way to Texas. Joseph Lafayette's sister was Sarah Haseltine Stiles, who was born Jan.4, 1846. He named his daughter, my greatgrandmother after his sister. Her name was Jemima Haseltine Stiles. We have been told that Haseltine was a family name. If you have any information about these ancestors of mine I would really appreciate your help. My email address is: lauratealeaf@excite.com Thank you very much, Laura Lee Donoho
