Hi Y'all! When I'm doing census research here in Georgia, the first thing I do is look in the Soundex for my ancestor(s) names/locations. It has been extremely helpful in finding the records I need. Before requesting census records for Cherokee County via inter-library loan, I thought I should try to find my North Carolina ancestor(s) in the Soundex, too. However, I'm not sure about the Soundex in NC. I was wondering if there are Soundex records for the NC censuses? Is there such a thing as Soundex lookups anywhere on the WWW? I assume a larger, regional library in the Western NC area would have these records on microfilm. It would be great if such a facility's services included the occasional look up. If you have any information to share or can offer any guidance in finding ancestors in NC in the Soundex, I'd be so happy to have it. :-) Kind regards, Mary in Ga.
